Like I've been telling myself weekly for about a year, the E92 M3 will be worth double in 20 years time.

Good points about the interconnectivity issue (I have an iPhone and it works fine for me but then all I do is text and phone and, maybe very occasionally, look on the internet. I don't need the Samsung/Google whatever).
EVO have added an RS5 to their fleet and the thing that struck me the most was the accompanying photo of it. It's green which probably helps show up the features but, Christ, it's a mess of curves, lines and, well, styling. Somebody should've taken the crayons off the designers a few weeks earlier.

Interesting.
Maybe it's just my age but I find no problems adapting to the various different infotainment systems in different cars. Some take a bit longer than others, but in general the Germans are pretty good.

I was trying to change the bass on the BMW last night. Couldn't remember where to find the settings, its somewhere in the iDrive menu.
On the Nissan you press a simple knob and then turn that to raise or lower the level, press it again and it moves onto tone, then fader and balance. Its way simpler and much less distracting.

From the side, the new A5 is OK but I hate the fluted bonnet - it doesn't look right in photos or in the flesh.
As for JC's comments on the car, I hate to say it but he is probably right. Less and less of my friends have any real motoring interest and going quickly is becoming socially unacceptable whilst at the same time blocking the middle or outside lanes or failing to pay attention are now the accepted norm.
If we look forward to the day when everything is electric and you just call up a car to come and take you somewhere, what will happen to manufacturers? People will be paying for transport from one place to another and it won't matter anymore if it has a Porsche or a Kia badge on it because you will just get in and it will take you to your destination. Will individuality be lost? I don't know but it will certainly be under attack.
As for calling up a car to take you somewhere, who is going to clean these things and how is that going to happen? What happens if someone throws up in a car or thinks it's funny to relieve themselves on the seats. There are lots of problems to overcome and even more human failings to control but I do agree with JC that things are changing.
EDIT: I should add that I find my wife's A5 a pain in the neck to get the correct media or maps or destinations set whereas BMW just felt natural and learning was easy. Maybe the autonomous cars will be either Google or Apple depending on your phone preference. The Apple one will cost more to hire of course.

I've preset one of the buttons to take me straight to sound settings, otherwise it takes too long. This is important for the fader function so I don't have to listen to whatever the kids are watching too loudly!

Operating systems, be they Android, Apple, BMW's and Audi's, are becoming more and more intuitive and convergent - no one wants to read manuals anymore, and really no OS should require more than a quick glance at a side of A4. You can generally figure out most of what you need within a few minutes of sitting behind the wheel of a new car.
I can tell you what aren't intuitive and easy to figure out - women. If someone could simplify their operating system and condense their entire operating sytem onto a side of A4 he'd become a fucking billionaire.

On the man vs women thing, this still makes me laugh a lot. In fact it makes my wife laugh like a drain too.
