BMW 5-series on Saturday, 4 weeks before the new plate is due to come into effect ! Looked like it was on a demo run as it still had the protective white plastic sheets on the roof and bonnet (why woudln't they have removed them as part of the PDI to make sure that the car was road legal?); it was going the other way from me so I couldn't see if there were any trade plates behind the screen, but definitely none readily visible from the front..... maybe it was the new owner driving it home in readiness to use it on Sep 1st.

What kind of tie was he wearing? They will have been moving it between dealers/storage.

I agree with Bob. It was being moved between sites. Probably PDI, plates, etc then back to the compound for storage.

maybe it was the new owner driving it home in readiness to use it on Sep 1st. I don't think they'd let an owner do that - I collected a new car once ahead of an appointment and was anxious to get going and the garage said I couldn't leave until they had it confirmed that the tax had started - I said, "I'll take the chance." and their reply was that taking a car on the road before it was taxed for the first time was taken much more seriously than lapsed tax so they wouldn't let me do it. The only time I had car prior to registration date (it was a Jan 1st car), the garage delivered it on trade plates but were very anxious to stress that I should no take it on the road before midnight. (Midnight on New Year's Eve? - I didn't go anywhere in it till the afternoon of the 1st!).

My mum had a new Corsa delivered around 4 or 5 days before August 1st. The garage were short of space and were asking if customers had room to have their cars early and be kept off the road. So we got the 1995 M reg car well before 1st August but it had to sit on the drive.

So we got the 1995 M reg car well before 1st August but it had to sit on the drive. August 1st was particularly manic and the sheer volume of cars going out meant that dealers had to rent warehouses and secure parking all over. Those days are over and even if you add the 1st March and 1st Sept registrations together you don't get anywhere near what went out on 1st Aug.

Definately this, I'm on holiday at the moment, however I when I get back to work on Saturday, l wouldn't be surprised to find we'd had load of September cars delivered, they will pdi'd and then driven to a compound, out of the way until delivery in a few weeks time.

First '67 plate today, was a slver 'C' class getting hammered from the M8 exit at Dobbie's Loan towards Mercedes Glasgow. Glad it's not going to be mine, that's all I'm saying!

Working from home, I'm not out and about that much, but still haven't seen one - I think the 8th of September/March was the furthest into the month I've got without seeing one - now 13 years since the one and only time I've ever managed to get a new reg car on new reg day (54 plate Megane 225)

A white A3 pulling into our office car park yesterday. We have had some new company cars arrive, so could be one of them.

My first 67 plate sightings were early in the morning of the 1st September. I was in Wales at the time and driving on the Bala to Dolgelleu road (A494). My first sighting was a black Range Rover Sport at 10:15am. What struck me was not the new plate or the car but how relatively remote it was to any 'big' dealership, any big town, I wouldn't hazard a guess where the nearest LR dealer would be to where I saw the car and given how early it was in the morning the new owner must have picked it up very early and taken it for a good long drive
After that there was actually plenty that day...Kia Cee'd was next, again, where is the nearest Kia dealership to Barmouth?

I've seen very few as yet, as I noted earlier. Another today though, a Hyundai Ionic; first I've seen in the flesh and it doesn't look too bad really. Very strong suggestions of the i40 saloon, but overall quite smart from the outside I thought.
(The caveat to that is, I only saw it for a few seconds, going the opposite direction from me!)

Fully liveried Police 208 in Birmingham this morning. More downsizing, then. I see that our vehicle compound has a batch of liveried Corsas, to replace the Astras.

One of my neighbours has apparently treated themselves to a brand new 67-plate dark metallic grey Audi SQ7. That's the first one I've noticed (it was hard to miss). It's slightly smaller than the Navy's new aircraft carrier. But only slightly. And I think the ship might be better-looking.

This evening the Addison Lee car that collected me at Heathrow as a 67-plate Ford Galaxy. I remarked on and the driver responded that in fact he had literally just picked it up and I was his very first passenger in it.

Apart from about 10 Mitsubishis which were lined up at the Blair Atholl 3 day event in late August, my first sighting on the road was a Macan S which I pulled up behind yesterday. I only noticed because everything was so shiny.

I've not seen many 67 plate vehicles so far but as it happens mine turned up 10 minutes ago. It's a (deep breath) BMW 3 Series Touring Special Edition 320d M Sport Shadow Edition 5dr Step Auto in Alpine White. I'm not sure what the hell a shadow special edition is but I'll have a look over lunch and report back. I'll be sorry to see the 330d go, cracking engine.

It's an M sport with some dark bits of trim. Or according to BMW "Sporty and dynamic on the outside. Ambient and sophisticated on the inside" You really will miss the 30d engine.

I've just moved it as the delivery lad hadn't reversed parked. Red leather interior, which I like a lot and Harman Kardon audio which my ears like a lot. I'll miss the 330d but my P11D won't. EDIT: Quick few pics
