It'd be great to see some pictures of Bess in her restored glory, if you have the time. I hope you really enjoy every journey! +1, I really, really hope that the guys you chose this time have done a truly professional job on her. Long live Bess ! + another! Some before and after shots would be interesting to see.

I suppose I should have expected this and the damage is very slight but, already? Looks like my neighbour has run his towbar over the top of the rear bumper. Is it too much to ask? I saw the guy maneouvering out of the parking area earlier and he was stationary right behind Bess for a while looking at something at the back of his car. Not going to take away the result of the work done but I am disappointed.

I look forward to seeing the pictures. I'm always reminded of the Harrison Ford film Witness when I see these cars.

I did ask the neighbour but he was so defensive and aggressive I just asked him outright, he has had the towbar that could have done the damage removed so not him anyway. The removals firm moving the family on the corner with their rear metalwork on the other hand....... I am not going to be looking further. Found the camera, cannot find the charging cable yet....

Looks great. My dad had a Texas Yellow Bug for about 20 years. Cool car but hideous to drive but he loved it - said it was "real driving".
Enjoy.

Thanks, I am trying to find a way to upload the rebuild pictures to my skydrive, they are sobering indeed. I was shocked to see how far the rot had got out of sight. No wonder the cabin was leaking.

Perfection would be too good. A patina of wear always appeals. She is in daily use, after all and not a museum piece.

I was looking forward to those. Proper job by the looks of it and nice to see the cavities filled with wax too.

IMVHO, a demonstration of the job being done right, which I very much appreciate. Probably why I stuck a bit extra on top.

Very impressive, both work done AND quantity/quality of photos. I hope she gives many more years of service Mike.

Ta, I did not realise how having the right colour would make a difference, VW Texas yellow is much better than the Mitsubishi yellow she previously had.
