...I last washed my car by hand. In fact I think this is the first time since getting it 7 months ago that I have ever washed this car at home with a bucket and sponge. Gratifying to not spot any new dings or dents that I wasn't aware of. £15 well saved! Equally, I must say I am still surprised that BMW describes this as a black rather than a blue. Glad I saved myself £850ish by going for this rather than Individual Tanzanite Blue. There is a difference but not enough to merit the cost difference unless you have cash to burn. online print screen

TVR got a proper wash when it came back from Le Mans and the Defender the last time I went green laning a couple of weeks ago.
There is a hand wash at Tesco, but I have never used them.

That picture shows off the colour well and it's a great looking car. It's satisfying to wash your car but I find some are more satisfying than others. The Volvo is horrible to clean the best car I had for that was my 156.

The problem with washing the Defender by hand is all the exposed sharp bits. I invariably end up with bruised knuckles and damaged fingers! I now use a brush - swirl marks are minor in comparison to green lane scratches and dents.

I took to using a wash mitt, but even that didn't stop sharp edge getting through.

Yes, it's definitely satisfying. I wouldn't have washed the car myself if it had been really dirty or mud-caked, but it was more that I wanted to get the anti-fox cover back on it after the weekend, and it was just a bit grubby after a trip down to Dorset and a week parked without its normal cover, so needed to clean it first.

Yes, I used a wash mitt for the first time - my wife had given me a "Car Cleaning Kit" a couple of months ago that contained it, and it was she who suggested I might want to wash the car myself using it. Works quite well compared to a sponge.
