I've had two, both in average speed roadworks sections of the M6. First was years ago, 72 in a 60 at 5am just before Thelwall where it's at least 5 lanes. I missed the first camera before the cones, then slowed to around 65 until the junction for the M56. Second was earlier this year at 1.13 am av speed 60 in a 50, which I've disputed. I sped up between two sets of roadworks between J21 and J22 only to find that they had already moved the roadwork cones on without changing the signage. The sign said 1/2 mile to lane closure only for it to be 100 yds ahead. 4 of us who were doing 75-0 in the outside lane had to do an emergency lane change as the cones suddenly appeared in our headlights. I believe the camera's had been changed but not the signage, but no doubt I'll get told otherwise.

^ I'm hoping a load of people don't get caught out on the M3 southbound just past the M25 junction; it's 50mph through the junction and has been for years, a sad reflection on the state of our motorways where the speed limit should be 70. The inside lane of 4 (all-lane running "smart" motorway) is coned off for several miles, to the next junction and beyond. About a mile after the M3/M25 junction there are NSL signs in the central reservation and on the grass to the side of the innermost lane. None of the variable limit signs are on. So one presumes that the speed limit has gone up to 70 except that several miles down the road there is a 50 sign on the verge inside the inner lane (which is coned off) but no sign on the central reservation and nothing on the overhead gantries. If you are in the outside lane and there are trucks in lanes 1, 2 or 3, you simply cannot see the 50 sign. Fortunately everyone was travelling at about 50 anyway across all 3 of the running lanes, but I do wonder where anyone stands, legally, if they get "caught".
And as usual there was no sign of anyone actually doing any work, miles of deserted coned-off lanes
