Compared to the current crop of boy-racer "look-at-me" Astons that is just such an achingly good-looking and understated car.

Only thing wrong with this one is the gearbox and the steering wheel being on the wrong side. Someone's ticked all the right boxes on the options list, fabulous.

That is indeed absolutely lovely. Odd that it was unsold and no indication on price.

Z1 for Racing. A while since I’ve seen one for sale in Dublin.

Ah very nice. I did bid on one recently on Collecting Cars - it went for £35k in the end, which is more than I am prepared to pay for a toy at present, particularly as red is not my preferred shade for a Z1 and it had a very gappy service history.

I was going to say “Have you looked in Europe?” but nothing roadworthy under €40k on mobile.de.

A UK dealer has a green Z1 for £50k.

One of my old contacts from the UK owners' register is looking to sell his Z1 at an honest price. It's a twin of my old one (black with hardtop) but not quite as tidy as mine was. I am thinking about it.

If it comes in at the right price it might be doable.

It didn’t sound too crazy until I got down to the buyers premiums!!

Now that is one over-priced car. A garage queen with a lot of work done but very little mileage. Only slightly more powerful than my Kuga which also develops more torque for a fraction of the price.

Yes, but an Aston Martin DB5 will have had a couple of overhauls by now and produces less power than Eva, which still has years of manufacturer warranty to run. Not sure Eva is comparable to a £million car though, and there are more DB5s than Alpina Z1s.

It didn’t sound too crazy until I got down to the buyers premiums!! That can't be right surely? 26%? No chance you'd pay that just for them hosting an auction. Its no wonder collecting cars are clearing up.

That % buyers commission is fairly commonplace for an auction and no surprise that Bonhams charge at the higher end of the market. The seller will also be paying (typically something like 15% + VAT) so the auction house certainly gets a decent slice.
That said, for motor vehicles is 15% not the 26%:
"For Motor Cars and Motorcycles a 15% Buyer's Premium is payable on the first £50, 000 of the final Hammer Price of each Lot, and 12% on any amount by which the Hammer Price exceeds £50, 000. VAT at the standard rate is payable on the Premium by all Buyers, unless otherwise stated."

Ye Gods. It looks like an ice-cream on wheels. Not for me. I'd rather have a Mehari.

Any better? A GGT / Green Gussied Truck! The PTS colours are shown on the configurator now, this is Porsche Racing Green. PTS pushes ‘my’ spec just over £90k which is madness.

At first glance it looks good, but I see it is really white, with a green wrap, so I'm out.

From people I know, the wraps can be of very diverse quality. If done right it can be very effective but knowing the stamdard makes value difficult. On top of that, why was it wrapped? You can cover up all sorts with a wrap of this kind.
