So we can view voluntary non-vaccination as another form of Darwinism.

Covid has found our house. I'm amazed it's taken almost 2 years, given my job and Jane's job being patient-facing in the NHS. Neither of us has routinely worked from home. However, I think it's most likely to have come from Evan's school. Laddo is OK, just an occasional cough. Jane feels rough. So far my LFTs are still negative.

I haven't yet tested positive for it either, and I'm the only one of my team who work in the building every day (other than THE boss). We've finally moved on to the more accurate LFT's recently though, so I wonder if it's only a matter of time?

Major outbreak in Mini Eff's school, with more than half of her year group isolating. I'm 99% sure it will be our turn in the next 72 hours.

Absolutely rife around me at the moment. I've been with a number of people who have come down with it from work colleagues to friends. Had friends over on Friday who came down with it over the weekend, the mother in law who looks after the boy on Thursdays phoned on Monday to say shes come down with the virus and now the missus has got it. Just hope all my jabs see it off ok.

Drove my daughter and her friend to town a couple of weeks ago, whilst at the restaurant table her friend received the dreaded e-mail from her PCR result (she tests daily for her job), she was positive.
Neither my daughter or myself have picked it up from her.
As mentioned my manager had it over Christmas then a couple of mechanics went down with it a week later, since then no one else at work has had it.

My wife had it 2 weeks ago. I tested every day but never got it which was strange considering we live in the same house.

All of the above kind of proves the point that the dangerous phase has passed and removing all restrictions is the right thing to do.
It's no worse than a cold and a lot less worse than the proper flu.

Having somehow avoided it for weeks while her school friends were falling like nine pins, Mini Eff has finally tested positive. I have mild symptoms but persist in testing negative.
Five fun days of home schooling to look forward to, assuming she's well enough 😐

Well it has finally hit us, my youngest had a positive test yesterday, she had been feeling grim for the past few days and had been testing as someone she works closely with had a positive PCR last week.
I've not been feeling great since Saturday evening, coldy and aching, but currently I've had 2 negative tests, but will continue testing for the next few days at least, the wife is feeling fine but is still testing.

My daughter contracted it (she thinks) last Wednesday at a night out at the Union, so she is now isolating in her room. We are booked to go and see her this Friday for the weekend as a getaway after Tax Return hell month, so I am not sure what will happen and whether she will have had two clear LF tests to allow her to leave confinement.

It caught up with me - inevitable once it was in the household. Day 7 today, hoping for a first negative LF test. Yesterday's test only had a faint line, fir the first time. It has felt like a heavy cold, with a headache that wouldn't shift and a complete lack of energy. Still, it was some time off work.

My wife has now tested positive as well, with mild symptoms. I've had identical symptoms to my daughter for over a week now - headache, cough, intermittent shivers etc - but despite daily LFTs and a PCR, still nothing.
I'm beginning to wonder if I'm doing the tests wrong - the swab goes in your armpit, right?

Oh well I managed to avoid it up to now, started to feel a bit off from Saturday evening but I kind of put that down to being tired, as work has been mental, Sunday morning feeling a tad off but not enough to not do bootcamp, rest of the day not feeling 100% but not bad enough to not do my usual long dog walk and Sunday stuff.
As my youngest was positive and I wasn't feeling 100% I decided to do the weekly shop on Sunday as opposed to my normal Tuesday day off, just in case!
Felt not great on Monday at work but a negative test, today is my normal day off so not in work...... tested positive this morning.
Awful sleep last night, I'm coldy, bunged up, ache like fuck all over and I'm struggling to get warm, thankfully (so far) no real cough to speak of, my daughter has had an awful cough.
So far the wife is negative but she is starting to show similar symptoms that I had, prior to me testing positive so she'll be next, her boss came home last night feeling similar to myself.

I went for a PCR test yesterday - my second in a week - and finally tested positive this morning. Symptoms have worsened considerably overnight - shivers, aches, wracking cough, zero energy.
Mrs Eff is in slightly better shape, while Mini Eff is on the mend and bouncing off the walls with at least a couple of days of isolation still to come.
So that's fun.

We had our first in-office case notified yesterday (clearly plenty of folk from work have had it but it's always been identified when they haven't been in recently). The guy tested negative on Wednesday before he came in but then tested positive yesterday morning.
Annoyingly I was in the office on Wednesday and he sits about 10 feet away from me. Doubly annoying is that I went to our Aberdeen office yesterday and only found out about the positive test at 9:30 Triply annoying is that I took another colleague with me who hadn't been in the office on Wednesday
Cue a quick couple of meetings in an isolated room and then a journey home
So, if I have contracted the disease how long will it take for a positive test to show up?

Tested again on Friday afternoon and tested positive. We had a hotel booked to come up to see her a week later (Friday 4th) and she is still positive - still, we had a lovely 3 mile walk on the beach in glorious sunshine even though it was a bit blustery.

My brother tested positive the Monday before Christmas (after spending the friday before all day in a van with me), confirmed by PCR on the Tuesday. I tested positive on the Wednesday, confirmed by PCR on Thursday. Felt crap with typically flu-ey symptons on the Friday but other than a bit of tiredness over the following couple of days that was it. Mrs Scouse tested positive on Boxing day (which pissed her off royally as it meant the NHS cancelled her gallbladder surgery shceduled for NYE), felt crap for a couple of days, but that was it. LSI & LSII never caught it, neither did my parents despite us literally living in one anothers houses.
My parents then went of a fly/cruise out to Dubai on the 18th Jan - tested negative before going. Ma said she felt awful with flu symptons around the 26th, got isolated to the cabin initially but tested negative. Got home on the 1st Feb, both got negative tests over the next couple of days, then both tested positive on Monday 7th then clear on the Wednesday & Thursday.
Considering both my dad and me were supposed to be in the 'dont-get-this-whatever-you-do-or YOU'LL DIE' group, it was a bit of anti-climax.

Woke up at about 4am on Monday morning with a bad sore throat . Went back to sleep and did a flow test about 9am which had a faint positive line.
Felt proper rough since Monday night though - going hot and cold, cough, achy as well as the sore throat

Covid has caught up with us now, with positive tests all around the house since late last week. I am in the thick of it now, with what is really just a bad cold / sore throat / man flu. I am doing some work from home and quietly muddling along in the expectation that it will all be behind me in couple of days.

This time last year we had full on restrictions (remember Prince Phillips funeral and compare it to the service yesterday) yet at the moment covid is killing circa 10 times more people per day. It's almost comical to see how easily swayed the general public are.

I thought deaths were way down even though infection is way up.
A quick look at NHS England shows 204 people died yesterday who tested positive for covid and 3 had covid mentioned on their death certificate.

A quick look at NHS England shows 204 people died yesterday who tested positive for covid and 3 had covid mentioned on their death certificate. The 204 deaths compares with circa 20 deaths on april 17th 2021. Roughly cases are up x35, hospital admissions are up x15 and deaths are up x10 when looking at government data from mid april 2021 to late march 2022.

How do we know the real stats? I'm guessing that most people with Covid aren't declaring themselves as such to any official channels.

Well, I have a cold but nothing so nasty as covid in any shape or form, not funny but in the scheme of things, hardly worth more than a brief mention. Are we more paranoid generally due to Covid?
