Remember when Jenson twatted about on a yacht when Williams were trying to make him sign a new contract? Remember when Schumacher made that terrible fitness regime video when at Benetton? Some may recall Rossi using a portaloo as a wind down lap celebration Hamilton clearly remembers his own youthful foibles…. Probably a reason why I want to see him win the title: recognition that with age comes responsibility but not at the expense of the past. I hope to support Max in a few years time. It’s like I pay more attention to the managers in football than the players - I’m just a miserable old man with a spent youth.

I broadly agree. I hated Vettel in his younger, petulant Red Bull days, but I've now somewhat warmed to him later on in his career.

Lewis Hamilton has really impressed me over the past three or four years with his maturity and good grace under considerable pressure. Of course I don't know him personally, but he does seem to be genuine and sincere in his comments and statements.
This is very much to his credit and he does a much better job of this than I can in my own professional life and I've got 16 years on him!
I really hope that he beats Max Verstappen fair and square in the final race at Abu Dhabi - and I also hope that Max matures with age. Sadly I suspect that he won't. For me he's in the same mould as Michael Schumacher. However talented he may be, I don't think he possesses the "sportsmanlike" gene. I dislike any such person in any walk of life.
