Pondering on the Challenged Max has chucked at Lewis this year, no mercy and either you get out of my way or we both go off. What is going ton happen this weekend? Personally I see any challenge to get a strong resistance and a much tougher, wider Merc than has been the case.
You could say it is just racing but the act of shoving the other driver out of the way has led to penalties and a heap of discussion about how the rules are failed by those supposed to enforce them which does not exactly give confidence in the rule making process. For me this is the real problem in F1 and goes a long way back. Farther even than 1994 and Imola where members of Williams F1 were arrested and questioned. How did they allow this to happen several times more at successive years competitions.
We do not have the original expedient of the "Move it or lose it" tactic anymore and I hope he is well but is Max, via his father's teachings, simply copying what was allowed years ago? Should there be rules like this or simply race as aggressively as you like and sod the consequences?

"simply race as aggressively as you like and sod the consequences?" unfortunately the authorities now frown upon this and will try to apportion blame with punishment whenever they can. It's often difficult to draw the line between what is fair, what is unfair and what is a racing incident - as so clearly demonstrated on Sunday afternoon. Each driver could have given the other a bit more space, but when neither does, is it fair to penalise one over the other? Who can determine if some moves are just racing incidents or deliberate contact? Not easy, and not helped IMHO by Schumacher and Senna both having quite intentionally taken other cars out

Max is aggressive because he’s still a kid- ok he’s 23 or something, but his frontal lobe is still that of a teenagers so he races without heeding consequences. Lewis, being older isn’t taking the same risks anymore.

I was hoping the stewards would have the round ones to fix Max, that or the governing board but it appears not. The business model is winning as far as Max is concerned.
