The black plastic areas on the lower body of the car form a graphic that, combined with a contrast roof should significantly alter the appearance. To me the extended rear deck will be more in keeping with the last 110 which was my preferred Defender. In terms of your argument about the rear being too long compared to the shorter front I'd say it is a balance not dissimilar to its Range Rover stable-mate which I imagine it'll share a number of parts below the surface. How very dare you! But if you're right and the balance is similar, then maybe it will surprise me and it's going to be a great looking car when the disguise comes off! We'll see..... I've had a proper look on the big screen rather than my phone and also looked out of the window at my car! I think you're right actually and now think it's the spare wheel on the back (on top of the overhang) that's making it look ungainly. But as I said, I will wait until the disguise is off.

Hedging your bets there! I think the wheel on the back is going to unbalance it a bit but I think that when the bulk is broken up by styling devices such as the plastic it'll be more effective.
This is a rendering, and you can't see the wheel, but it looks more composed:

A little! It does look an awful lot better in that picture, but maybe that's because you can't see the spare wheel.....so maybe I'm right after all...

That does somehow look more like an old style 110. I like it a lot.

I'd never thought about it before but you are right that the new 130 will be more in keeping (overhang wise) with the original 110 and original 130. The original 130 had the same overhang as the 110, it just had a longer wheelbase. 110 110
