I've been back in my office for 10 months now, but most of my meetings are on Teams. Several times a day, with people either at home, in the office, in various other of our sites in the UK, and with third parties in the UK, Ireland, Switzerland, Norway, Belgium, The Philippines, and Bermuda. No way would I want to be on a teams call with some dude in Bermuda. That person would be told to turn their camera off immediately or adapt one of those wet days in Manchester backgrounds so I didn't feel so jealous. Might be a nice day, but based on my several trips there for work, it's just a likely to be howling a gale and / or lashing with rain outside. Being in the Atlantic ocean means it gets an awful lot of weather. You probably would not be jealous of his transport. I'm sure the uber-wealthy can find a way round it, but they have a one car per household policy (with very high taxation rates) and everyone else drives scooters. I don't think I saw a single 911 on my trips. www.bermuda-online.org/wheels.htm#:~:text=All%20residents%20of%20Bermuda%20are,one%20registered%20vehicle%20per%20household.

Just had a look and the weather looks great for the rest of the week! Not surprised you didn't see a 911, might as well own a pedal car thanks the the speed limits. Speed Cameras to limit speedsNow in use. A speed limit of 35 kilometers per hour (21 mph) is the maximum speed allowed on all Bermuda's roads; less in marked built-up zones.

Income tax is only 6% in Bermuda. But the cost of living is rather high, unsurprisingly.

Whatever video call platform your workplace and clientele use is anyone else finding that the more WFH goes on the more every meeting becomes like a comedy skit? I have to bite my tongue at least twice a meeting. Today a woman’s audio feed kept vanishing so she left and rejoined. My immediate response was “you’re too bloody loud now!” Fortunately I was on mute. Yes...frequently. I am looking forward to going back to the office. I have my second jab on Monday and so, all being well, I think I will aim to sally forth to the City late next week or early the following. I've ordered a second office chair etc from facilities for my desk - no way I'm taking the stuff I took home last year back to the office now that I've been told we're moving to a new working model of 2/3 days in office per week and rest at home.

I bet it will be really strange going into the office after such a long time. I was only at home for 5-6 weeks and that was a bit weird, but mainly due to visiting sites where they hadn't stopped so were used to all the COVID controls and it was all new to me. Not sure why you're waiting for your second jab to take effect before venturing across London when you've just had a trip to Italy!

Not because of that, but I can't go this week due to quarantine and since my jab is Monday, I thought I'd leave it in case I didn't feel well Tues/Weds (like after the first one). If I feel fine I might also go next week but I have a virtual conference (it's Riyadh-based) on Weds so little point that day.

It will be good to get back. We are starting a gradual return to the office later this month. Having started with my employer last September I have never worked from the office and have only dropped in twice to pick up IT equipment. I shall be in the office 2/3 days per week until November, when we shall review the situation, but I can't see everyone going back five days per week.

That’s my expectation too, but I am someone who always builds in margins for error.
