Apparently died today.
apart from saying “auf Wiedersehen meinen kampenfuhrer“ or some such we should say thanks for helping bring F1 to the attention of the global media and making it one of the biggest sporting brands / events on the planet.

Mixed feelings, lots of money and attention but lost his way at the end. Either way he had a proper go and at least created an atmosphere where F1 had a fighting chance to be an enduring sport, for that he deserves our thanks. RIP.

Highly astute, very intelligent, he knew how to out-manoeuvre people long before they even realised what was going on. A real leader, not afraid in upsetting people to bring common sense. Unfortunately if you look at today’s FIA President, there is a lot of dithering and posturing to political events happening. And that is precisely why the change that needs to happen, doesn’t happen. I was watching the Portuguese Rally over the weekend, all I saw was fans mad about the sound of great cars whenever a car came by on a stage. If you only listened to the EU, one would have thought the whole of the EU has gone EV-mad. Not the case.
