Well, Schumacher has binned it in FP3 and is not expected to make quali (which is probably all over by the time I write this, having been out most of the day until now)

Quite surprised by an off pace Ham, not standard. LeCluck did a proper job apart from binning it in Q3, it looked genuine though and they will have to rebuild at least that corner, not to mention possibly replace a gearbox. No way that was done for giggles and kicks.
A change from the norm could chuck a few balls into the air at once and that would be interesting.

I'll have to read and re-read our rules regarding pole position. It may end up with a point to anyone who said Leclerc or Verstappen

He still started in the 2nd slot on the grid, there was just no one in the 1st slot. Bloody boring race though. The only retirement coming from a dodgy wheel nut and not one on track overtake. I know the history makes it a prestigious win for those who manage it but it has to be the most pointless GP on the calendar.

Pretty dull race but nevertheless it was still an F1 race at Monaco which is always a great backdrop.
I learned only one thing from this weekend and that was watching FP3 on Saturday morning with my best friend. After the Haas Crash of MSC he was collected by a course car. It is Aston Martin weekend and one thing became quite clear: that DBX thing is an absolute MUNTER. I note LeClerc walked back after his crash in Quali and I can only assume it’s because he refused to be seen within barge-pole touching distance of it.

He kept pole after the accident "inquest" and would have started if there had not been a car failure. As you say, Verstappen did not move into the "P1 box", the grid formed up as if Leclerc was on pole.... he had the position but was unable to occupy it. Bit sad that Ferrari chose not to change the 'box, starting in 6th place would at least have given him a chance of scoring some points. M-B messed up badly this week-end, as they sometimes do. Was good to see Vettel having a strong race, was also good in a way that Mazepin didn't have a huge smash and as for Norris lapping his team-mate Ricciardo.....

I understood the gearbox was fine, with the issue being a driveshaft? Mercedes do tend to have a big brain fart weekend every so often where absolutely everything goes wrong.

Good piece in Motorsport on why Mercedes have a horror show at Monaco. Their car is not built or adjustable for short straight, slow speed corner tracks and the Ferrari was actually the best car of the weekend for this. If Charlie hadn’t binned his and ended the session it would’ve been likely a Ferrari front row lock out. Lando (a complete set-up grebo apparently) texted Sainz earlier in the week and said as much and Sainz said as soon as he drove the track on Thursday he knew he was in with a shout. The Merc is also dire at warming it’s tyres and the set up Lewis asked for in Qualifying would’ve helped but absolutely eaten his tyres for the race. Bottas was more ballsy into Ste Devote which helped the warming process hence he had the better of Lewis.
I don’t know about the rest of you but seeing a Ferrari and a McLaren on the podium at Monaco was a fabulous end to the weekend.

It was a great shake up and while it was a glitch in the road, nice to see indeed.
