Were those wheels an option? I thought the S4 had a different style. Looks good though. The S4 had standard 18" Avus wheels, the brochure I have lists 5 arm alloys as an option but they maybe a slightly different design, I have the original bill of sale but will check... unusual to have a 5th unused on as a spare if not from new....

Nice. From the days when Audis were understated and all the better looking for it.
Just take a moment to look at the front of that Audi. And weep for their current designs.

Nice! These can sound very V8'y at times, not sure if that is modded exhausts or the standard ones (which tend to get fruitier as cars age). Great that you can enjoy the sound more in the fresh air too - enjoy!

You need to get your drive tarmacked! Mark might be able to help out... He’ll get round to you once he’s dropped off my lucky heather. I agree with racing, they got the styling spot on with that model, classy and discreet.

The exhaust isn't discrete! I have a small video of it but it is 5MB - any ideas how I upload - the limit appears to be 1MB

Not how you’d expect it to sound!

Nope, it sounds very American muscle car on the road, I'll investigate putting the resonators back in rather than straight through pipes!!

Any custom exhaust place should be able to tig weld in some decent fruity silencers to the straight pipes relatively cheaply.

There is a chap on eBay selling some miltek stainless pipes with resonators for £150, assuming they fit they could be a good start

Well done - it looks great and I hope you have loads of lovely V8 fun with it.

Ooh nice! That sounds very like my father's much-loved old 2006 RS4 Avant, which had a Miltek exhaust system.

Now it is taxed and insured, I'll have to go and get some fuel to test out the exhaust!

Make sure you test it thoroughly under a variety of conditions

Ooh that is rather fruity isn't it!
I know V8's can have different firing sequences and so on but from what I understand most are not of the flat plane crank variety and that US muscle car sound is there beneath the surface if enough silencing is removed. I quite often hear B6 and B7 S4's, and B7 RS4's, with a loud but very fruity bassy muscle car tone.
My last XFR was much more subtle than that but very much woofly muscle car V8, the current one sounds much more Porsche-like and seems to have some valve stuff going on (that I'm not sure was publicised) - so even the same engine can sound very different a few model years apart!
Enjoy it anyway - one of the best sounds in motoring, and becoming vanishingly rare on UK roads.

No idea what it is but there is a very fruity, old rally car exhaust around here some evenings. It does sound great though. Probably a very enhanced BDA.

I have bought a set of miltek pipes with resonators, so that should help a little.
Costco are doing 4x pilot sport 4 for £405 fitted....should improve on the crap falken's on there now....
How much does Dan Jackson charge for an alignment?

That's a great buy Bryan. My wife had a 3.0TDi cabrio just like that and she still says it was the best car she ever had.

I have bought a set of miltek pipes with resonators, so that should help a little. So a more refined hooligan noise, but still in the spirit of a V8. Nice.

Great sounding car, nice balance of power and noise.
You should be able to give a good work out and soak up lots of V8 love noises without warping straight into the “prison zone “
