Weird name. Mad performance

I think we had a thread on it a while back. The standing qtr mile in under 9 seconds apparently, over 1 second quicker than a McLaren P1. The acceleration is more than ridiculous, but the 520+ mile range is excellent, even if it ends up in the low 400s as that plus the Supercharger Network makes it a very usable car indeed.

520 mile range is only on the boggo 2 motor model isn't it?

Plaid is some reference to the godawful film Spaceballs isn't it?

520 mile range is only on the boggo 2 motor model isn't it? No, the more the motor the further it goes seems to be the case. Isn't it also the case you can't use the performance without going through some warming ritual so the 0-60 is 2 seconds + 9 minutes to condition the engine and battery.

Yes, you need to prepare for the TLGP well in advance.

I’d missed that the triple motor is part of a facelift with a new interior. Look at the new steering wheel.....!
You might notice the lack of stalks, this is the reason. Guesses?!

Fairly subtle changes but it does look better than the original

I dislike that wheel arrangement and will be amazed if the signalling works in practice. How will it know if you want to take a turn off for example?

I don’t see how that can be workable in the real world.

I had to drive to the Wirral today and the most common electric car I saw was the iPace.

Whirring around the Wirral...
I don't like that interior either.
Does anyone else feel like we've kind of passed "peak car" from an enthusiast's perspective?
The new generation are impressive bits of kit but they just don't interest me nearly as much.
Or perhaps that happens to every generation and simply explains the classic car market...

Taking dog for another medical appointment. After a two hour drive home listening to her whinging I was wondering what kind of Boxster I could have got instead... Yes, I do worry that we’re at the peak if it hasn’t already been passed.

The acceleration is more than ludicrous, ..... FYP I have seen that the steering wheel has already been likened to that from the original Austin Allegro......

That steering wheel would be illegal here, so either it'll end up with a proper wheel or we won't get the car.

Crazy performance for the money. It’s $130,000 here, the base E63 AMG is $107,000. Though I’m not sure I’d choose the Tesla if I was in the market for a new car.

If you were unfortunate enough to get some kind of big slide on, exactly how can you apply enough opposite lock quickly enough with a wheel like that - unless of course it is a mega quick rack or the car can sort out any kind of moment with no driver involvement. Unless that man Block has sorted out the auto driving, i'd rather be able to do it myself.

All kinds of nonsense like this is what drives people away from Teslas but then I'm in no way shape or form their target audience. It's like new flavours of Coke or any of the sugar free derivatives: just fuck off.

I would have thought the Tesla will read your brain waves and figured out your destination before you’ve even decided where to go yourself.

The big screen in the centre dash looks like when some gonk in Max Power fitted a screen and Playstation to his Saxo.

If you look closely on the wheel, I think those two arrows on the far left are the indicator controls (override if Hal9000 has a fit).

Looks like you're right. Tesla will be relived to know it's still on my list of imaginary purchases but I'd want the option of a regular wheel.

Wanky steering wheel aside - that looks fantastic. That's pretty much my thought too. People got used to the huge central screen on Teslas and have accepted the nothing in front of you in the 3, so maybe a wanky steering wheel shape and no stalks is the next move on from the old world?

The Tesla Model S was always a great looking car that has not dated at all since its launch. It looks fantastic, inside and out, in those pics.
