The i-Pace is pretty quick to heat up and the heated windscreen is fantastic. We (or rather my wife) uses the precondition when it is cold and icy and she loves it. The only downside is that it needs to be plugged in but as Martin said it also warms the battery and gives you greater range. Could you engage drive with it plugged in? You can try but it goes nowhere with lots of warning bongs. It is pretty failsafe.

Yes, I'm glad they thought of that fail safe too. Otherwise people would be ripping the sides of their houses / cars off at regular intervals. We had a very near miss with cables a couple of years ago. Mrs PG started and moved the horse lorry while it was plugged into the battery conditioner. The bonnet was down and she didn't notice the cables. Luckily it just broke off he charger connectors. I now have a bloody great "Battery on charge. Do not start or move" sign stuck to the steering wheel when it is on charge.
