Shit. The. Bed.
316 MPH average speed, verified, and with more in the tank. Oli is our some-time test driver and all round good egg, although he did once nearly give me concussion over a kerb at Bruntingthorpe in an SLS.

What gets me is the lack of drama. Might as well be doing the speed limit over here.

Felt a bit quick that. Like coming off the North Circular on a Vespa.

Amazing. Still don't get why they named it after a living fossil lizard from New Zealand.

The top end acceleration is phenomenal. From 250+, it’s accelerating like my car does from 50+!

Wow, big balls to pilot that thing at that speed. It all looked very easy from my computer screen but if a tyre let go at that speed

Is it just the camera angle or is the windscreen really weird?

Amazing. Still don't get why they named it after a living fossil lizard from New Zealand. Maybe it's a really fast living fossil lizard from New Zealand? I wasn't aware of that. They are mostly known for having a form of third eye: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TuataraWhile living in Rome when I was a small child, we had a nanny from New Zealand. She was part-Maori and used to tell us all sorts of fascinating stories about New Zealand, its history and wildlife etc, including about tuataras.

Is it just the camera angle or is the windscreen really weird? I think it's because it's a 360 Cam, they can distort the view somewhat.

So presumably Bugatti will be soon to claim it's not actually a production car like the specially modified Chiron they'll be using to crack the 300mph barrier.
Agree the test driver must have big balls to do those speeds.

What gets me is the lack of drama. Might as well be doing the speed limit over here. I thought the same, even as he casually adjusted his seatbelt as he passed 100mph. They haven't mentioned what it goes like round corners.......

It looks a bit boring for the driver really, the drama would only happen if something went wrong but at that speed I doubt even the best driver would be able to do much about it. Much better to go round corners at 70 than dead straight at 330....

Very brave, more than I initially thought when I read it was on standard Cup 2 tyres and wasn’t fitted with a roll cage.

There’s some evidence to suggest it might have only done around 280mph. Not a Shmee fan, but was sent the link and he does cover it pretty well.

I have one problem with any of these, they go on and onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn saying the same thing. What's that, 2 mins of actual data?

That does raise a lot of questions, as you’d expect given how big a leap in speed they managed against the previous record.
