What happened to those poor buggers from VW that created the cheat. Did they ever end up in prison?

When the VW part came out I remember they promoted internally to replace the senior bods who got the bullet.
Always seemed a bit pointless since surely they information share as well as platform share? I mean can you imagine that, say, 3 litre diesels coming off the line for a VW Toerag have cheat software uploaded whereas ones coming off the same line for a Porsche Cayenne don't have it?

What's the betting Porsche are doing it internally so they can be seen to be "doing the right thing" before it ends up externally? Throw a few expendable middle management bods under the bus, say sorry and move on to the next cheat.

It was all a pointless exercise. There's a fine line between creativity and cheating but to throw engineers into jail seems a bit heavy handed.

Call me a terrible cynic if you want, but I think you've hit the flat end of the pointy fixing device with the metal end of the large blunt instrument there...
