I've seen loads of adverts for them recently. I remember when it used to be about £25 for a ticket in a limited pool to win a Ferrari at airport terminals. They have a map of winners, nearest to be won a GTR.

The spot the ball necessity is something to do with lottery laws.

Yes, a colleague won a lovely 11 plate Jaguar XKR in silver. His ticket was £30 I think.

The spot the ball necessity is something to do with lottery laws. Yes. It's to introduce an element of "skill" to what would otherwise be a "lottery" where no skill is involved, which requires a different gambling license. Having done a project for the Gambling Commission I am so opposed to gambling outside of the National Lottery, which has a statutory requirement to spend a large portion of my stake responsibly, that I believe it should just be banned outright with death penalties for those involved. I keep seeing and hearing adverts saying "thank goodness sport is back" which are from Ladbrokes, BetFred etc. Fuck right off: I want to watch sport because it's sport and enjoyable not because I can bet on it.

No, never tried. The ball-spotting malarky was too much of a faff.

I bought 2 tickets once, the first time I went to the USA in 2006, at Heathrow airport when it was just a lottery. Didn't win and haven't bought any tickets since

I've bought a couple of tickets in the past but not won anything. The level of accuracy you need to find the right spot, given how many people are entering and putting a 'x' on a spot, means it is almost a lottery anyway.

I dabble occasionally and had a very near miss a couple of years ago when I won (I think) £200 of free entries.
There is a guy who takes part in Sprints in Scotland who has a Caterham 620R he won on BOTB. He regularly tells people it only cost him £5.
