One week on from the Austrian GP, the GP circus returns (or did it just remain here for a few days?) to contest the Styrian Grand Prix. Same number of laps as Austria are scheduled at 71. So what#s likely to have changed? Predictions in the other thread please.

Not much far as I can see, da Ham is off the boil and looking towards political ambition and making very little impact on the practice sessions. I am rather hoping that in quali and the race he picks himself up a bit or Verstappen looks to have a real shot at the title.

FP3 appears to have been washed out this morning. Many appear to be hoping that quali will go ahead this afternoon, else it may take place tomorrow morning when the forecast is apparently much better.
However if it goes ahead in wet conditions and it's dry for the race, that could spice things up ;-)

I think a P-45 awaits unless this season improves, markedly. As for the idiotic move into the same corner that caused problems last wee, the less said the better. Others made a better fist of it but Leclerc made a right dog's dinner of it. Two retirements for the price of one?

It looked almost like a "racing incident" to me, Leclerc went for the inside but with cars 3 or 4 abreast to his left, probably not the wisest move to make if he had seen the situation in full before deciding to make his lunge. The only alternative he had was to brake and slot in behind Seb, but then he risked being rear-ended.
Norris is proving to be very tenacious. Not sure what happened to Ocon, looks like his car died on him but so far I've not seen much about what happened.
Roll on next week-end !

All we can take from that is that unfortunately the Mercs really are head and shoulders above everyone else. Max Verstappen is the only hope of breaking them apart. His move on the outside of Bottas was genius and just shows his aggression. But if Red Bull don't deliver something a bit quicker he'll soon get pissed off being Hamiltons whipping boy. Albon's going to be given the hurry up. What was the rumour about Mateshitz flying in and telling Helmut Marko to bring Vettel home. Last thing Vettel needs is Verstappen as a team mate. The pink cars gave us some entertainment and I'm very happy Strolls slowly coming up to speed. Well done Norris, Mclarens do look like they have poor race speed but are somehow picking up results. Williams, Alfa Romeo, Alpha Tauri and Hass just look like they are trying to survive this season and can only see the gap growing in speed between top and bottom.

Waiting for clarification on the protest about the pink Mercedes, no idea what the issue is or whether the complaint has any teeth but doubtless we will find out, or not.

Lewis has a habit of bouncing back from poor weekends, doesn't he? That pole lap will surely stand as one of the greats. Bottas and Verstappen both had issues which disguised their ultimate Q3 pace and exaggerated the deficit, but nobody was going to get within half a second of that.
Albon was really slow in the first half of the race and really quick - quicker than Verstappen at times - in the second half. He did well to hold off Perez and probably finished as high as he could have, but the overall deficit to Verstappen needs working on. Perez drove a 99.9% brilliant race and was lucky to lose just the one place.
Mclaren - love it. Norris stole the show again but I think Sainz deserves a lot of credit for a brilliant qualy lap. The slow pitstop cost him dearly - without it he would have been ahead of Stroll and Ricciardo.

Renault's protest over the pink Mercedes is related to brake ducts....
Ocon's retirement was same issue as Ricciardo's from last week, a leak from a weld on a radiator. All the radiators were returned to the UK after the last race for the welds to be checked, they all passed and were returned to Austria as "good to use", yet they experienced the same issue on Ocon's car yesterday. It appears that Renault are far from happy, and do not have time for a new batch of radiators to be manufactured (they are made by a subcontract supplier).
