Looking at global sales of premium SUVs the answer is no, very much no.

Without the labels, how many manufacturers, never mind models, could the vast majority of people identify from that mostly depressing list.

Only the Americans would call the X7 a midsize SUV.
Is the Hongqi a Toerag copy?

Only the Americans would call the X7 a midsize SUV. Beat me to that comment! Shows that most of these ginormous cars are purchased by Americans and Chinese, who still think emulating Americans is a sign of success.

You may need to look away now - the front of the Hongki makes the X7 look subdued. Who copied who???

Although the Discovery figures look healthy in that list it feels that that is more a Range Rover Sport list.

These remind me of going to the 20 year school reunion where a person turns up who looks sort of like that girl you always fancied but something’s gone quite badly wrong in the intervening years.

The X7 is 5.15m long, so about the same length as a SWB 7 series and 15cm longer than a RR. It is still some way short of the big US SUVs though, the Escalade ESV is 5.7m long, a LWB Navigator is 5.65m and a standard Suburban is 5.6m. All 3 are about the same width as the RR/Sport and X7 at just over 2m with the mirrors folded.

I know, but at least I'll be able to use them as long as I plan to have the car and as I discovered, anything narrower wouldn't fit everyone in comfortably.

It's lucky there are no socially repressed black people in China because they'd never drive a Honky.

Odd thing is the current X5 has the same wheelbase as the F11 5er, is slightly shorter overall, wider body but has less lateral interior space at the front with more at the rear (the latter because its not as teardrop-shaped).
That 45e engine is a no brainer in tax terms for the X5; the 7er with it has a smaller battery so doesn't get down to the 6% bracket though (which rises to 7 then 8% over the next two years) so one assumes that if there is to be a G11 or next gen 545e touring it will need to have a more efficient battery pack to make sense.
When looking at other stuff like the Taycan and expecting a building acceptance that battery powered and PHEV cars will start to dominate the market then the only revenue saver I can see for the Treasury is road pricing. Most modern cars have a tracking system lurking in the ECUs somewhere so drivers won't even have to think about it or make changes to newer cars (which will get some kind of government financial boost to chop your older car in when road pricing arrives). I then also assume that certified classics under a classic car, limited mileage insurance policy will get an exemption but petrol tax will be about twice the current rate to make up for it (note I said petrol; there is no such thing as a classic diesel! - maybe a vintage for oddity).

The X5 isn't as efficient in terms of exterior to interior width. Combined legroom is pretty much the same Body Width 5 - 187cm / X5 - 200cm Front Shoulder Room 5 - 149cm / X5 - 152cm Rear Shoulder Room 5 - 142cm / X5 - 148cm The 545e will have a 35 mile electric range, the same as the 745e, so still 10 miles short of the X5 45e and about the same as the latest 530e

I agree that road pricing is about the only logical revenue route to go down. The financial benefits I can get from the Etron simply can’t stay intact once e cars gain market share. The cost to the treasury would be too much.

So, come on everyone, if you had to have one of these, cost no object, which one would it be? You'll have to imagine that only SUVs are available, so no "I'll take the X5, but I'd rather have a _____ instead".
Cayenne Coupe for me. I think it's a good looking car regardless of it being a soov.

Temptation is obviously to say the Urus and I'd sell it but of those I'd gladly own the Range Rover. I was following a Cullinan along the high street on Sunday and there is nothing positive to say about it. Clumsy design and embarrassingly ostentatious.

The question wasn't which has the lowest tax bill! You need to drive one if you're serious, I had one (a 30d admittedly) for a week and wasn't that impressed and the interior/new tech is a step backwards from yours even with Full Merino leather. If you chose Merino with the leather dash, it's just the dash top/door tops that are leather, the rest is padded pleather. You only get the adjustable/reclining rear seats with the 7 seat option as well, unlike most other similar cars which have some adjustability. The Cayenne e-Hybrid is a much nicer car, what's the tax like on those?
