I’m feeling memory seat envy. I have to push a button to make mine work. None of this linked to your key frippery. The seats in the mighty Octavia are fully manual; the button-operated 3-way memory seats in the Legacy are but a distant memory!

I’m 6’8” so every car is all the way back and all the way down. My wife is just short of 6’ but likes to sit quite high but raked back.
Re memory seats - do you not tweak the position depending on time of day anyway?

Re memory seats - do you not tweak the position depending on time of day anyway? In the Benz I had two memory positions. Start of journey and two hours in. Occasionally I would tweak it a little anyway. More difficult in the Audi with manual seats, but the world has not ended. In fact, not having electric seats is probably towards to sharp pointy end of first world problems.

I'm a lanky 5'7". Because of this I have to have the seat pretty much as low as it will go. Definitely in the "sit in it" rather than the "sit on it" camp. Due to driving the work cars after a variety of other people, there are some extremely odd seating positions out there - and they don't seem to correlate with how you would expect the seat to be set once you know who used the car last.

You shrink during the day and regrow when asleep. I hope you haven't got osteoporosis;when I worked in the water industry our senior person in our Scottish office shrunk from about 6ft 6 to 6ft 2 over the course of his 60's

This could be your body crying out for a better seating position. I have been advised by an orthopaedic surgeon not to have the seat too low, especially if spending a long time in it. In fact, he suggested the more upright SUV type driving position is a better posture.

No, apparently it has more to do with being in a position with the legs almost horizontal rather than the better posture of being closer to a classic chair position. Even when sitting on an office chair, you are better with your lower legs vertical or slightly back and your feet flat on the floor, rather than your legs stretched out infront of you.

Only occasionally on one of our long drives to Italy, I might sometimes adjust the backrest tilt just to vary my position a little. Generally I find my car has very comfortable seats. The 500 on the other hand is not a car I have ever been able to get a truly comfortable driving position in.

I used to sit with legs quite stretched in cars and the seat tilted up if that was possible. But after some posture help after back trouble, I totally changed how I sit in cars. Now I sit a bit nearer, the hips higher than the knees (or level at worst) and the back pretty upright. As I have Yorkshire syndrome (short arms, deep pockets) the wheel is out quite a long way. When I had the seat lower and backrest more reclined, I too used to have to mess about with the seat after a couple of hours in the car. Now I don't.

It depends on the vehicle. I like a high position in a people carrier or SUV, and I like a low position in anything sporty.
The Defender driving position isn't really very adjustable. I have it set as a compromise of leg length and rake so I am as comfortable as I can be, which isn't very, but I'm kind of used to it now. The 110 without its bulkhead behind the seats will be better.
The TVR is very low. I was never quite happy with its original seats, but the Cerbera ones are a lot better. They are a bit firmer though.
I can't get comfortable in the Mazda at all. The cup holder in the door digs into my right knee and the seats are far to hard IMO. Who needs 4 Cup holders in a 2 seater anyway?
