Someone has taken the film footage shot during the Apollo 13 mission. Quite a well done job.

Possibly NASA's finest hour. I bought a copy of Jim Lovell's account, Lost Moon, and was chuffed to find out it was signed.

Apollo 11 on Netflix is a good watch, all original footage and audio, much of which was only fairly recently found.
It is amazing when you think about it, what NASA achieved way back then.

That the Apollo craft had less computing power than the average watch now it is a stunning feat, saving Apollo 13 was massive, 1/4 of an amp being the difference between getting home and, not while restarting the main systems.

Having been around for the original landing and seeing it live on TV as 8 and 9 year olds, Mrs PG and me have watched many of the 50 year programmes and documentaries. At the time, everyone knew what an amazing achievement it was, but cold war secrecy obviously stopped a lot of stuff from coming out at the time. Looking back now and knowing more, it seems an even more amazing achievement.
The same really for Apollo 13. As we look back and know more more, the true brilliance of getting them back home can be seen.

I was homing in on the age of three, so have no recollections. That's why I am so keen on the prospect of a Mars landing within my lifetime.
Fingers crossed!

Going on twelve which is probably why the coverage of the time made such an impact. Not sure we will see a manned Mars mission for some time, they are going to go back to the moon first, apparently.......
