Will you be taking pictures? Valiant parts are so rare I have never seen one outside of pictures. Almost as rare as Short Sperrin parts. Well I cetainly will be IF I get up there, and I think Tim likes taking a wee photie or two as well!

Give me a shout if you're going. There's also a good sounding one near Inverness (Morayvia). I see that it has a cockpit section of a Valiant bomber, a very, very rare commodity. Will do. Do you still have the same mobile number? Yeah same number

It's the only one in existence. Morayvia has a cockpit section and, weirdly, I saw a report of some guy selling the cockpits of a Victor, a Valiant and 2 Vulcans (that may have included the only remaining Mk1)

We could change that by talking about how visits to air museums won't be possible until after the lockdown?

Simple. Modern 4 pot turbos tend to have mani-turbos, where the exhaust manifold is cast into the head and the turbo bolts straigh to it. Older engines had the option of tubular manifolds to smooth out the pulses or even have them work against each other (like the aforementioned Subaru) and experienced engine tuners could wring all kinds of noises out of a 4 pot using exhausts. Induction noise is pretty much gone nowadays, even opting for an aftermarket air filter does next to nothing with modern engines as they are already hugely efficient. And GPFs, the next big killer of modern engines.... But also, people have been sold the idea of popping, banging and farting as being sporty. Older engines will do that too, but only every so often and usually in a high state of tune, not on every up or downshift. Decent sounding nat asp 4 pots are long gone and I for one miss that. I've had some belting engines powering me along in my past - every Peugeot 1.9, whether 8 or 16 valve. The Legacy Turbo, the Clio, even the 8v 2.0 in my GTEs. This.

Couldn't listen to all of that, I would need earplugs as well as the full face helmet if I had an Atom.
Does anyone like the supercharger whine?

Best sounding 4-pot I ever had was my Alfa GTV (no surprise there and of course not a turbo) but whilst the 4 pot turbos I've owned - none the latest technology (2004, 2007, 2010 and 2015 cars) - have not been the best sounding they all sound a helluvalot better than the average shopping car.

^ Ditto. The blue car looks to be some sort of Focus, sure I saw the rear lights quite high up.

I don't know when that was filmed but it looks like the new 2 Series Grand Coupe to me, probably in 235i flavour.

I thought it looked like a BMW. The whine is OK until you get to very high revs, it starts to sound less than lovely after that. But that might not be representative of how it sound in the real world.

Because he is short shifting for a start.
I thought the blue car was an M6, looks a bit big to be an M2 and the tail lights are very slim.

How is a 2 series leaving an Atom standing? Traction...we all know small cars with around 300hp and 4WD are the fastest cars in the real world! Seriously...no idea.

He was definitely short shifting and then backing off around the speed limit. The BMW might just have stretched that a bit to a few mph over the limit. Either way the BMW isn't slow with a 0-60 time of mid 4s, so the Atom would need to be driven pretty hard to blow the BMW away. Pleased my old eyes didn't let me down!

I can imagine supercharger whine is fun for about 5 minutes.

I can imagine supercharger whine is fun for about 5 minutes. I got to about 20 seconds! Horrible noise. There has got to a joke in there about whining!
