I'm pretty sure my love for bikes is known on here, I've been building/repairing/modifying them for nearly 30 years and a great way to keep my mind at ease is to indulge in building projects. In late December, a very good mate gave me this, on the basis that I build a complete bike out of it and don't sell it (I turn around quite a bit of stuff on ebay..)
I haven't done a custom paint scheme before, so in true Top Gear fashion: "How hard can it be?"
Start with a basecoat of your choice, in this case some matte metallic grey high temperature stove paint that I had lying around.
Then you overlay a second colour using a process I watched online. Simply put, you spray your secondary colour onto a clean flat surface and place a cut square of thin plastic or clingfilm over the paint, then use that as a transfer to put the paint onto the original painted surface. What you end up with is the crackle/marble effect above.
Add all the required decals and throw more coats of lacquer at it than you care to remember, flat and polish. I also got my wife and kids to add their names/squiggle to it under the lacquer.

If you ever come across a frame and other bits big and strong enough for giant fat people and want a paid build give me a shout.

Those Boardman frames are pretty decent. I would like to see what you end up with.

I received the forks for it yesterday and they are currently undergoing a paint transformation. It'll start looking like an actual bike very soon.

Those non-symmetrical chainstays offend my aesthetic eye immensely.

All done. Just need to mount them to the bike now. Then buy wheels. And tyres. And a groupset. And cranks. And a stem and bars. and brakes.

Indeed. You don't want to come and paint a shonky Land Rover do you?

I very much admire the 'how hard can it be' approach. I'm not sure about the main frame but the forks look like something you'd buy in a shop - that's a really quality effort. When are they going to let you loose on a Blarno art-car?

I agree with that, the frame has a suit you or not thing going on but the forks are bloody nicely done.

I'm really happy with how the forks have turned out considering I had no clue where I was going with them and made it up on the fly. I should be getting a full face helmet soon that will also be receiving the how hard can it be treatment.

It looks sort of like a bike now. Frame has gone off to the company who does our protective film to have a custom kit made. That should give me some time to save up and buy some more bits to finish it.

I remember the old IDDQD code for Doom from my youth. Doom was an absolute cracker of a game in its day, as was Wolfenstein 3D that preceded it.

This is looking awesome - great work! Aside from the recently purchased road bike (which I'll be taking out for it's 5th ride ever later today!) all my bikes (all MTB's) in the last 20 years were built from the frame up, though not with quite this level of artistry!
Most have started with either a second hand or heavily reduced frame, I tend to buy out of date but very high end bits and thus always have enough for a full bike build kicking about... Most recently I got an Ibis Mojo HDR frame - ridden about 6 times - which is on the lower travel setup designed for 27.5" wheels, though I'm running it on carbon 26's that were a steal (£1500 to £300 new) for being an unfashionable size at that time. I have barely ridden that one as it was finished just before my ex did her thing, but I'm doing one MTB ride a week now and will rotate through the bikes. Like cars, they like use, my rear hydraulic disc brakes (all Formula) seem to seize when left and always need a bit of fluid bled.
Oh for the time we can ride at an MTB park again - after the Marathon nonsense of last year, the Triathlon nonsense planned for this year meant I was cycling again and do intend to go to Coed y Brenin and Cannock at some points in the year - if possible. Current routine is run/rest/cycle/rest/run etc - with all of them about an hour each - which is for injury prevention as I am still getting over a groin thing and have not been running fully (at one point I was doing 40k a week) since last summer. Cycling doesn't seem to cause it grief though.
Enjoy and good luck!
PS - I had two pairs of the orginal DMR V12 pedals - they last forever - one pair is on my ex-wife's bike and one on my daughter's (my old "small" framed Santa Cruz Superlight with an impressive frame dent from CYB...). She's a lucky teen with that Superlight with carbon Pace forks and full (8 speed, much of it Ti) XTR gearing....

While I was diggin out old car sims I came across Doom 3 (BFG edition no less) but as I cannot get a steam account it is so much pointless plastic. Perhaps later or after lockdown is done.

You shouldn't need a Steam account if you have a physical copy of the game.

You need a steam account for the copy protection and certification, or it will not install. Pain in the arris.

C'est la vie and not the end of the world. Richard Burns rally is available free and it does run on windoze 10. No doubt stuff will be sorted eventually. For anyone interested, Codemasters F1 2019 is available for 70% off on the steam store.

To complete an account there is the usual 'are you a human or a bot check' this entails getting an email with a link. I never get the email so as far as steam believes, I am a 'bot' harvester.
