Cheers - I know everyone moans when they get caught, but it really was one of those cases of a quiet motorway in good weather, and a spurious 50mph suddenly flashing up on the gantry, and the next one clear again for no obvious reason.
I always assume 10%+2 is where you start to get done, so I was aggrieved I was 1 mph too fast - and that no-one else around me made as much effort to slow down either.
The risky option if caught speeding right now would be to refuse the points or course and go for a court appearance - the courts are hugely backed up and are trying to get rid of minor cases.... But of course the courses can't run either. Like everything in the country right now, its a mess...
I have to say people are driving/riding like twats currently in residential areas due to the lack of traffic. Not a great time to have a crash and end up in hospital... I know which one I would put on the only remaining ventilator if I was in charge and someone was joyriding in a 30 limit and crashed, vs someone with C19...

Out for a walk last night and two Vauxhall Corsas were racing each other side by side along the 2 way 30mph limits. We saw them 3 times and heard them several times more but never close enough to get a Reg No. However since our local Police Station is only manned from 7am to 6pm there is little chance that they will be caught.

I did a speed awareness course last year and I was told what appears to be a random change to the limit can be down to pollution sensors. If the levels get too high they reduce the limit to reduce pollution. I have a horrible feeling the green agenda will be the excuse for a zero-tolerance to speeding.

Thankfully I am statistically very likely to be gone by then!

Partly why I like to get my kicks from driving a vintage car, where an enjoyable ten tenths* B road drive would rarely trouble a speed radar. * Ten tenths by my standards, which is probably about 6/10 for others...

Yes, I've had my fun with fast cars and am happy to have my fun with the Land Rovers.

I'll have to get a Caterham or Atom and go back to competing probably in hillclimbs and sprints if road driving is further neutered.
