Bloody hell. I had a puncture at work a few months ago, with no spare and holevway too big for the gunk. That stranded the car for 2 days and I had to get lifts to and from work. Sounds like top service from BMW. I'd get yourself a space saver, they're not that expensive and take up no extra room in the boot.

Brilliant for who?! I already had acceptable accommodation booked! For us . Even without a hotel , hats off to bmw , and At least you know you’re well looked after should anything else happen going forward Yes, I wasn’t going to renew the breakdown cover when I extend the warranty as I’ve got cover with the RAC through my bank account, but I’m not sure now.

The only time I used it, my car was well out of warranty but I reckoned for the extra £70 or £80 cost on the extended warranty it was a small price to pay for what would otherwise be a major ball ache. It is, after all, why we all have insurance - to deal with the major issues. I'd always take it.

Yes, agree that it's definitely worth having cover, but the RAC cover we already have is full European cover with hire car/hotel etc.

Bought a used Golf space saver and tool kit for 40 quid, then hacked away at the polystyrene storage thing that fills the spare wheel well when you don't have the optional spare. Chris was right all along...
