Had my first proper run out of town in the car today as we had to go to a family memorial service near Winchester. Pleasingly, in Comfort I can report that it remains generally well-behaved and hushed at motorway and A-road speeds with just a richer growl when you clog it. Sport, however, is quite another matter. As my wife commented "now I can tell the difference". It's louder at a cruise, albeit mercifully just short of a drone, but gives a lovely loud snarl if prodded. It really accentuates the "Jekyll and Hyde" feeling it always possessed.
It also makes a loud and very purposeful growl when you start it up. It was a very well-attended service, so we had to park in a field adjacent to the church and after the service I found a very nice bronze-ish-coloured DB11 had parked next to it - I was amused to note that when I started my car, a couple of teenagers passing thought it was the Aston that had started up!
As to whether you can feel the extra 10% power, I am not sure. It already went like a stabbed rat when provoked, so whether the couple of 10ths it's supposed to shave off the 0-62 time (4.8 vs 5.0) are detectable is up for debate. In any case, it was 2.5 degrees this morning and, with my wife on board, not the time for heroics.

Indeed. Had a good run today cross-country from Avebury to near Andover, and actually I think the car does feel that bit more urgent in Sport. Goes like the clappers and sounds much more aggressive. And if you accelerate away with a decent amount of vigour you get a more pronounced short machine-gun braaapp on upshifts than before (and which it still doesn’t do in Comfort). Definitely makes it feel a more characterful machine... ...looks good too: image uploader

I hardly ever post in here these days. Small world eh... Anyway, the MPPSK upgrade sounds brilliant and it has got me seriously thinking about it. I’ve only driven my car the 220 miles home from the dealer and it’s been wrapped up in storage since till my Alfa goes back at the end of the month. The wait is making me ache!

In more ways than one!! Many congrats - you are of course now required to share on here too.... Yes am pleased with the MPPSK upgrade. It’s still expensive at half-price but I find it makes the car feel just that crucial but more special. After three years, I needed that! Even though the offer was at Cotswold and Berry, Berry were being mildly awkward about what days of the week I could get it done and they are a pain to get to, so I just rang Park Lane who usually do all my servicing and asked if they could match the offer. Took them a day or two, but they then came back and agreed that they could. So that was excellent, as they are the most convenient for me as I can drop it off and collect on my way to and from work.

Not too far from Avebury myself. What were you doing up there? Complicated. We were staying in Newbury on Friday night after a memorial service for an uncle of mine near Andover, and then on Sat morning we decided to go and visit Marlborough and Avebury because it was a nice day and my wife wanted to see Marlborough having heard about it during the service (my uncle had been a pupil there as are a couple of his grandchildren). Then afterwards we went over for tea with his widow, my aunt, who had my mother staying, as there were nearly 200 people at the service and we hadn’t really had a chance to speak properly. Then it was back to London as we had friends coming over for dinner!
