GSF, £67 for a Yuasa and 5 minutes down the road from where I work ... bargain (so long as it fits OK)..... Had to stump up £101, they wouldn't warrant the standard battery to be fitted to a Captur since it needs a special type (not AGM, can't recall what they said it was*) due to the battery smart charging system allegedly fitted to the car. Ah well, at least if it works out OK it's one less thing to worry about for the time being EDIT : EFB 2nd EDIT: Success ! All done in the dark after I got home from work and took about 15 minutes including getting a few tools out and putting them away. Not absolutely straightforward due in part to restricted access, but not complicated either

First service for gt3 this month .
£850 + vat for what I believe is effectively an oil change . Add on the air con check for another £180 .
Small change given the bodywork I’m going to have to sort due to almost every road near me being dug up over the last 12 months ,some nasty stone chips to sort, but rather that than a car with 1000 miles on the clock after 2 years .

Given Audi's hourly rate, oil is a long way down the list of reasons to go elsewhere!

I'm taking my own oil next time I go for a service as Audi charge £28 per litre and the car takes 7 of 'em. I know what oil they use as they always leave half a litre in the boot for a top up and I can get the same stuff for £70 including the filter online. If they don't like it I'll leave and go to an elsewhere. They're not always the same; they bulk buy oil to a generic specification and store it in tanks above the service bay. It can be a different (read, cheaper) brand to that left in the boot.

But if I buy the same stuff, they can't argue that I've bought the wrong one, can they? I wouldn't have thought so. I know people who do it. I think a dealership might huff and puff that if what they're given is not what's on the tin and they put it in and something goes wrong then they don't want to be liable, but if the can is sealed then I can't see that being an issue.

From experience, they really do not give a toss. The rate is widely known to be extortionate but it continues. How can an independant specialist charge so much less AND STILL train their staff up to snuff AND use the correct standard of equipment? I think they are working on the fuck off and lose warranty etc because we do not give a shit routine myself. Question. How high will the value of second hand cars go after they are no longer able to sell new ICE and hybrid cars? Part 2, What is there to service in an electric car and how much higher will servicing costs go to make up for lost revenue? Not that it is likely to bother me even if I am still around but I can see this seriously going titties up.

Given Audi's hourly rate, oil is a long way down the list of reasons to go elsewhere! I am getting the full Audi warm chamois treatment on Thursday and it will not cost me a penny... Other than the BIK, which is north of £350 per month!

Yikes. That's very nearly what the PCP on the GC costs me!

Or chosen a hybrid, most of my team have a 530e now and are saving a huge amount each month.

We have found that in the real world the hybrids on our fleet are very expensive to run and the choice if you want a decent sized estate is limited. I didn't fancy a Mitsubishi PHEV and just about everybody else had stopped making hybrids 12 months ago.

I didn't fancy a Mitsubishi PHEV and just about everybody else had stopped making hybrids 12 months ago. I think more will come back to the market once they’ve sorted out their WLTP figures. The reason so many company cars are being delayed is because the manufacturer can’t give a taxable figure for it or get certain models through the test and out the other side with a respectable official EV range. The Outlander had an official sub 40g figure with combined mpg of 144 under NEDC. That will change dramatically come April when WLTP is used for BIK. At which point company car users will all see big jumps in their tax bill. We’ve had a number of staff ask to hand back their fuel card because it’ll be cheaper to fund their own private fuel. The Ioniq is costing just under £200 a month in tax which I still feel is a small price to pay for a fully funded car.

My view from the office today They have a special sales event on at the moment but other than a few test-sits, I will not be taking it any further.

Main dealer servicing costs are becoming ridiculous - I was quoted £530 for the second service on the Giulia a couple of weeks ago. That’s a lot of money for a 4 pot petrol that’s only done 18,000 miles IMO. I shopped around within the (now tiny) dealer network and it ‘down’ to a still ridiculous £435...

Younger daughter's Audi A1 is coming up for service and MoT.... £175 + £50, no discounted MoT fee when booked with a service. However it's still cheaper than the interim service on my Fiesta at a Ford dealer last month. She was looking at Kwik Fit for around £170 for service and MoT but I hope I have persuaded her against that idea.....
