Letter in Autocar this week from a Chris Hendrie, living in Glasgow, talking about hunting a spare glass roof for his SL500.

I had no idea that Kraftwerk's name was Chris Hendrie or that he lived in Glasgow or had an SL500!

Yes that was his name and he was a Glaswegian, but at the time he was active on the forum, he lived in Walthamstow. He did have an R129 SL500 with a glass roof and a Kraftwerk-appropriate licence place ending TEE, but sold it to a friend of mine years ago.

Now I have read the article I see he sold the car some time ago. I wonder what he has now and whether I pass him on a daily basis!

He does do Facebook, I believe - someone here would probably know how to ask if you wanted!

Both. It's the same person. It was a blue 1997 SL500 with the plate "P500TEE". My friend kept it for about five years I think before selling it to Charles Ironside.

He had the CX, sold it and then bought it back a while later, I believe.

If I recall, he had a third kidney and never suffered a hangover.

He called by earlier in the year for lunch and to slag off my car.

Has he moved back up here then? I seem to recall him saying he'd no wish to set foot in Glasgow again .. .. ..

I miss him. I hope he's well. I last saw him in 2013, when he had the CX first time around. He stayed at my house once, in about 2008 for the Prescott meet. Came down on his motorbike.

I remember him for the Avantime. That was cool.

Met him years ago up in London, whilst the eldest did a days work experience with his wife (don't think they are together anymore); she is rather big in photography.
He took me out for lunch, he seemed a very pleasant man.

I met him at Prescott when he brought the CX. A very enthusiastic and friendly guy. He did ditch Facebook but is on Instagram, but I got rid of that.

I've never had Instagram. Or Twitter.
I'm obviously in early-onset fogeyism!

I joined Facebook in the very early days but quickly got bored - it was at the suggestion of a former colleague to enable us to keep in touch (it had initially been Bebo!) but it didn't achieve anything more than email could and was more cumbersome. I'm on Instagram but only to support a musician I know who is trying to raise their profile to try to earn a living out of their music. Having said that I follow (is that the right word for Instagram?) Liv watches which is 12th's fault

I'm on Instagram to follow my sister as she has some interesting posts from the art world. I on twitter at work as our posts pop up on the website and the constant refresh helps with Google. I follow my brother who has developed a hilarious hatred of Boris Johnson and started retweeting Corbyn, so his descent into rogue marxism is amusing. I enjoy Facebook, it helps me keep in touch with far flung family and friends, what they're up to etc and to follow the brother of a mate who owns Shiney Row Autoparts and posts a lot of very funny car related stuff.

I’m only on Instagram, mainly for the F1 related content. Never been on Facebook.

I enjoy Facebook, it helps me keep in touch with far flung family and friends, what they're up to etc Likewise.
I joined in early 2006 when I'd just moved to Russia and wanted my sister to send me photos from some event or other that I'd missed, and she replied saying that she'd posted them on FB and if I joined up I'd be able to see them there, so I did.
I do like that it keeps me in touch with university and other friends whom I never see because they live in Chile or Seattle or wherever. But also with family and friends who simply live in other parts of the UK like Edinburgh and who I otherwise rarely get to see. It does keep those relationships alive because the shares and the likes and whathaveyou remind you why you were connected in the first place.
Instagram seems to be mostly for showing off, and Twitter seems to be mostly for arguing with strangers (and being a generally opinionated sort, that's just not a rabbit hole I want to risk disappearing down).

So is anyone interested in my MySpace page then?
Thanks to facebook I was able to locate and make contact again with the Best Man from our wedding and reconnect with two cousins who had completely drifted out of my life. It also allows two Scottish friends who I don't see these days to take the piss out of my golf, which they enjoy immensely.
