The only pity is that some of the major items are beyond their abilities, such as when the DRC needs work. The pipes are showing some corrosion (which after 13 years of being in close proximity with the road is hardly surprising), and it is a known issue. They greased them all over to slow things down (gratis) and told me it's not in need of imminent work. That will be a big job and will require travel - Scouse's neck of the woods, I think. I put £400 a month into a contingency fund for holiday, car work etc - I think I know where a chunk of that is going in 2020!

I used APS when I had what I thought was a clutch problem. Ended up replacing slave and master cylinders to no effect. All it needed was clutch fluid with a higher boiling point. Not a solution many places seem to be aware of, in fairness.

As an aside, I very briefly met the dealer principal the other week, and my overall impression of him was that he was an arrogant twat. Can't say I'm surprised. You weren't arresting him, were you? Nope. It was a visit out of courtesy about a minor issue.

Car's in the dealer today. They've just rung to say they haven't got all the parts required and need to keep it overnight. That'll be two days without a car. I'm rapidly losing patience with them. It'll be the last bit of work they get from me now the car is out of warranty! That would perhaps be acceptable if you’d turned up unannounced but they knew what work they were doing. I suspect someone forgot to order the parts in.

I was told at my local BMW dealer that they are not allowed to order parts unless they have a job number to allocate them to.....and they can't create a job number until the day before a car is coming in at the earliest. That then means someone needs to diary it to remind them to order the parts the day before....and I bet that doesn't happen often.

I'm sure they would've managed but do you reckon the central parts shed have diffs lying on the shelves or that they'll have to come from Germany? Given my recent experiences I doubt its a cheap item.

That’s a good service your neighbor provides!

As my neighbour took my car in and couldn't drive it back she would've ended up with an extra car on her drive, so I said that she could park it on ours if there wasn't enough room on theirs. Just got in and there's a black e-tron on the drive. It's very long! Interested in your thoughts on that - especially the weird wingmirrors!

I like the way the e-tron looks and when we saw the press launch cars in Marbella earlier this year and had a good look up close and through the window it was very impressive.
If it goes half as well as a Jaguar i-Pace, which i've driven on both the track and the road, it will be a very impressive car. However it is more a means of transport than a tactile sensory experience although to be fair modern ICE cars are moving away from that as well.

The one I saw a few weeks ago didn't have the black wheelarch bits, which spoil the one above, and it had significantly different wheels which were the thing that made me look twice at it. It's also quite a lot sleeker looking then the rest of the Q models, although its still an SUV.
