Finally seen some bona fide on-the-road new plates, all but one of which were VW's!!
In Southport, a Transporter, in Bradford last night a Golf 'E', and passed a Caddy on the M6 this afternoon about 20 miles before Southwaite. Every one of them was grey!
The only non-VW and non-grey one was a red Civic that passed me at well over 3-figure speed. He may not have it long if he keeps that up!

Didn't see one till 3rd Sept - it was a Mini Cooper S in that very nice new green they've recently introduced.
I'm waiting to see an imaginative plate with the new number! There used to be a boat locally called '68.5 - nearly there'.

Finally, yesterday, I saw 2. One was a Mazda CX3, the other a RR Sport.

It's taken a long time but I was behind a "Driving Miss Daisy" i-Pace this morning, with a 69 plate. Someone needs to tell him it doesn't need run in, in the conventional way and glacial departures from traffic lights are a pain for anyone stuck behind!

Perhaps his previous car was a 2 litre diesel and he got a shock from the instant full torque from the electric motor and his driving is a reflection that he's scared of it happening again?

Still not noticed one! I do miss the old August 1st reg change! I also have fond memories, but also some bad ones. The highlight being an apprentice in a parts department, spending the two weeks before August, doing nothing but making up number plates. This was before they were printed off by computer, so every digit was transferred onto the backing. It took forever. |
