A GTV was my next but one car after the Calibra, with a Xedos 6 in between. Andrew - that's a great aesthetic trio of cars. I'm probably in the minority, but I think the Xedos 6 is/was lovely to look at. It was on my shortlist for a while. It was a lovely car - engine completely silent at standstill (when I went for the test drive, adjusted the seat, did my belt up then I turned the key and there was a graunching noise - the salesman said, "whoops sorry, I left the engine running) yet had a lovely V6 burble - I must have wasted loads of petrol by giving it too much throttle from low rpm just to hear the noise. I got asked a couple of times, "is that the new baby Jag" as well. I see them for sale every now and then for only about £1000 and wonder about buying one.

I had a Xedos 6 for a while. It was rather a nice thing.

If truth be told, I never actually took the current-shape Kuga for a test drive before agreeing to chop the C-Max in, just short of buying it at the end of its PCP. On the basis that the Kuga was going to be similar as it was based on the same chassis, had largely the same dash and interior trim etc but a bigger boot (and it wasn't white) I agreed. The short drive home after I took delivery had me wondering if I'd done the right thing as it appeared to be significantly bigger - wider and taller making me wonder just how much of a handful it could be in car parks etc. However next morning I Drove it up to Amersham to meet younger daughter at the Audi dealership on her search for a new car (March/April 2017) and began to get a better feeling for it.
It also brought a tear or two to my eyes as on the way there I recalled something my dad had said on his deathbed, about buying a new, red car .... and the Kuga is red.
Am pleased to say that I have bonded better with the Kuga than the C-Max to the extent that although it's not 100% the car I would choose (nobody seems to make what I would ideally buy anyway), it's got just about everything I could want. If only it were several inches narrower so that it was less of a squeeze to get into the garage, and get out of once in the garage, and if only the paint was as tough as the Frozen White of the C-Max...... When the PCP on this runs out, it is currently going to be very difficult to tempt me into something else. I'll have about 5 1/2 years to go until I (hopefully) retire, so I could keep it until then by which time it will still be under 10 years old and have, I reckon, a max of 70,000 miles. Maybe something "better" will be launched during the next 2 or 3 years though - and almost certainly not the new Kuga although it would be interesting to take one out for a test drive when they go on sale.
