Had a quick blast in one this morning.
As usual it is an improvement on the previous generation in pretty much every respect, but in most areas that improvement seems incremental rather than any huge leap ,aside from the ride quality which is now remarkable. So much so that I would suggest it may now be the best Gt you can buy as well as the best daily sportscar.
The engine is very similar to the one I had in the GTS and performance is similar, this is now a very fast car.The model I drove had PDCC (Prosche dynamic chassis control) which kept the car in contact with the road on some incredibly tricky sections of road ,but it did not feel natural and I actually found it a bit disconcerting.
The steering felt similar to the GTS and so to the gearchange ,both are very very good but not in the league of the gt3.
I was underwhelmed by the interior, there are too many screens ,too much time taking your eyes off the road to make stuff happen, and the tiny gear nob is just stupid, either have something phallic or nothing at all.
The materials as well in some places were not what I expected ,with some switches being very nice tactile wise, but other bits a bit cheap.
I don't think this car had any money spent on the interior spec so it did feel a level down from the gts and the gt3 both of which I put some nice bits on (extended leather, carbon fibre trims etc).
The exterior is nice, but the car is larger .It feels more spacious inside but thankfully still feels compact on an A road .
It is quite funny driving the gt3 back to back with a regular 911 ,it is so different in every respect.
Overall it was impressive, but it is a million miles away from the thrills a gt3 offers,I imagine the inevitable GTS and gt3 models will be fantastic as they have a good base to work from.
