Beans and (not on) toast is a favourite Saturday lunchtime treat for me too, when the family aren't around. BURN HIM! You need 2/3 of a can of Heinz beans and three pieces of toast. 1 piece goes on the plate and has the beans poured on it, the other two must be cut into triangles and placed around the outside of the first. Can't stand soggy toast on the bottom - it has to be warm, crispy lightly buttered toast

Mine needs lashings of butter and ignoring the advice on the tin not to let them boil.
I melt a knob of butter in a saucepan, add the entire tin of beans and cook them thoroughly until they start to reduce a bit, the sauce thickens and the beans go soft. Apart from preferring them that way, it makes the toast less soggy. Then it goes on to four slices of toasted and buttered Hovis Seeded Batch. Which I arrange like tiles on a large plate for no other reason than that that's pretty much the only way they fit!
Basically two baked-bean open sandwiches...

It has to be 2 slices of bread, one intact and the other cut into half to form 2 triangles. Put one triangle at each end of the intact bit then pour the beans on. Beans to be prepared according to Racing's method albeit without the added butter.

I don't think Heinz beans are what they were - the sauce has gone a little thin and runny - and the beans themselves seem less meaty. I've had HP and Branston beans and, dare I say it, they've often been better.
It's probably something to do with Brexit.

I am a firm believer that there is no meal that cannot be improved by adding cheese to it in some way. So I'd suggest that beans on (or with toast should you be in a minority of one :-) ) with grated cheese on top of the beans is even better.

I'm not a fan of the texture of beans, it's a bit too floury. I'll eat them but never look forward to it.

Put marmite on the buttered toast and then add the beans.
Marmite on toast also improved by either cheese or sliced tomato with plenty of black pepper.
Just remembered buttered crumpets add them to the list

Likewise the marmite idea is an interesting one.
Marmite on toast is my go-to hangover food. It’s literally the only time I eat it but when I am hungover nothing else will do. Apart from Irn-Bru (or Iran Brunch as the autocorrect would have it)...

And refined in Moscow, where Irn-Bru is readily available in supermarkets and was a staple of our hungover fry-up breakfasts at the weekend.

Another lover of beans on toast, though with a little curry powder and some veggie additives. Heinz tomato soup, with bread (including crust) broken into it, just as mum used to. Strong cheddar too - local Co-op deli used to do one called Cornish Craggie, which was perfection. Fuckers discontinued it against customers' wishes, and I can't find a trace of it on the internet. Gutting... One of my favourite strong cheddars is Aldi's West Country Crunchy Cheddar. Better even than Taw Valley Tickler, and perfect for a cheese & chutney sandwich. Well worth a try. I like to add a sprinkling of herbs and a slosh of Worcestershire Sauce to my baked beans.

Oh, and I prefer Branston beans to Heinz.

I can't remember when I last had Irn-Bru. Aren't the Scots up in arms because it was reformulated to have less sugar? There's a shop in Dundee that is selling cans of original recipe for around £5 a throw! The Irn Bru Extra tastes fine to me. Mrs Tim reckons it smells like vomit, however.

As an easy post-cycling/running meal, especially satisfying when it was cold out, I like one of the small tins of Heinz beans/sausages, with grated cheddar on top, and some Tabasco, on well buttered bread. Yum.

I'm surprised at the lack of added ingredients to the beans. I personally love a few sun dried tomatoes cut up and added to the beans before heating, maybe a pinch of chilli salt.
FYI, no cheese is no problem. Just break some crisps over the top... Lovely

Fish finger butties, on white with ketchup. Sardines on toast. Meat and potato pie butties with brown sauce.
