A little light spannering has been required to Mrs Chocy's up! A few months ago she was following a car down the A90, when something fell out and connected with the front bumper of the up! breaking the bumper and bursting the headlamp. With a £250 excess, it was 50/50 whether we should put it through her insurance, in the end I decided to fix it myself. £70 for a headlamp, £60 for a second hand bumper and a favour returned meant zero cost to paint it. A couple of hours work to dismantle and reassemble and all is well. I put on the summer wheels at the same time, so the slightly scruffy car has been transformed into a smart looking supermini... Again. Now, I think I was offered payment-in-kind, any idea how I can claim that? 🤔

Good spannering but where's the completed photo? I was just hearing this morning from a client who owns a garage that he keeps losing mechanics to Arnold Clark who are now paying £35K - £40K for those with experience!
Your wife and her favours are completely up to you!

I hasten to add, I am not in that pay bracket. I've never worked for AC, but my understanding is, if you keep your head down, work away and don't get dragged in to management, it's a decent place to work.

35k for a 3 day week? Bloody hell. 4 day week and depends on the hours worked, but still very good for plugging in a computer and draining oil.

That's pretty decent money - the techs at the garage I was at 4 and a half years ago were on about £11 an hour which works out at a little over £20k depending on hours.

I'd be happy with that, unless it's 12 hour shifts... It's a 37.5 hour week. They've just advertised for a backshift foreman, Mon to Friday, salary of £40k per annum...... For watching others plug in computers and draining oil.

Plus working out how to charge more for less I'm thankfully out of that environment. It's just maintenance of our own fleet. Tbh, it's a great company to work for.
