You might remember that I had a VW Golf which I sold. The idea was to go carless and see how things worked out. The logic was quite sound, I have a free bus pass and was rarely using the car.
8 weeks is how long I lasted. I think you guys will get this, but sharing a car is rubbish with someone else's shit flopping around in the door pockets.... Blah, blah, blah. I also missed driving, not the 'A to B' travel, but taking pride in driving and enjoying it. I think driving buses for 3 years had turned driving into a chore and it took a while for that to fade.
So, I've bought another car. I only had £1650 to spend as that's what I sold the Golf for, so it was cheap but, I think, it's a good looking car and women of my age (40s) are very impressed.
Would anyone like to take a guess?

A SportKa/KaConvertible or Puma? Haha, if I could have found a rot free Puma, I'd have had one again. This car appeal more to women than the Puma, if not the Streetka.

Not a convertible and you'd be pretty short to fit in the rear seats. I don't as the Scottish Fire Bridge will confirm.

Maybe I've oversold the feminine nature.
It's none of the above.
It is, however, four wheel drive.

Not a Defender ?? An Audi of some sort fitted with quattro ?
EDIT: Hmmm, ebay would suggest a Toyota RAV4, and at the age of the vehicles coming up on a search they are IMHO the best shape and the are plenty of decent colours available too

ibb.co/8bYHrQNIt is indeed an Audi TT. 2004, 180bhp model with fsh and 108k miles. It's in decent condition, although it is a little shabby around the sills, but not even enough that I'll get it seen to. It's a little down on power as a couple of the vacuum hoses are perished, thankfully a new set is only a tenner from ebay . We all know that it is, indeed, just a Golf in drag, but it is just a little bit special and as a petrol head, that's what I want.

Not bad for that money, mk1 TT’s are still a right bargain, especially the early ones. Keep it nice and use it sparingly and in a few years it’ll probably start to appreciate in value as all the grotty ones disappear. Meantime enjoy it.

Wow, nice work!
You're right, there's nothing like driving. I miss it really.

With the A2 and then the Mk 1 TT, Audi managed two concept car realities. Shame that future generations of the TT lost a lot of that "wow" of the first generation, especially as they had to stick the corporate snozz on it. Mk 1's still look fresh today.

Well done on the TT. I remember the first time I saw one on the road, in the summer of 1999. It took my breath away, as it looked from "The Future". I ordered one later that month, which arrived about 8 months later!

Is it black? I had a 2004 180bhp TT. Loved it and at the time the interior felt very special.

Dammit, the TT popped into my head on Thursday as I was walking back to the car after work!
I'm amazed they're available at that price, even with a couple of issues. Good choice though.

One of my neighbours has 225hp version of about the same age. He has owned it since it was a year old and says he'll never sell it: he loves it. I think the interior is still pretty special when you start to look at the detail. Happy driving.
