Ford Puma tipped to return as compact SUV
I like high riding cars more than most but can we please see some new ideas?

Makes sense to recycle the name and it fits in with Kuga. I'm not sure what new ideas would constitute since they point out the only vehicles they are making money on are SUVs and vans. It'd be a hell of a gamble to ignore the market and go out on a limb.

It'd be a hell of a gamble to ignore the market and go out on a limb. Like Nissan did with the Qashqai? I know the the market argument, I've made it here more myself. The Puma name feels like sacrilege though. I didn't suggest they ignore the market, but new ideas, niches and vehicles is the only way a market evolves.

What was that big Puma called? They could bring that name back as an SUV, too.

And then the criticism of the likes of Audi and BMW is that they keep on finding new niches that nobody wanted and filling them with new models. 3 and 5 series GT, X4, Q2 etc

Agree. Same with the Mitsubishi Eclipse in the US. It is an objectively decent car, but the name just feels out of sorts with its history.

The name thing is no worse than Merc plastering AMG badges on small engined saloons that have big wheels and hard suspension or BMW sticking the M colours on, well, anything (I know, I've got one with a clattery 4 pot dieseasel).

I always thought Corrado sounded better than Scirocco too...and wondered why VW don't resurrect that. Perhaps it means something abominable in a key market.

That's the one. They could pronounce it differently to the Kuga. Could say one of them like Monty Buggershop-Hooty perhaps?
