They have to be gloss black, same with my model. My bright has the NCO on his 7 M Sport and it has plastic chrome inserts in the from number as well. The less chrome the better on any car imo.

Which branch of Barons have you visited? Bedford. It’s my 2nd closest BMW dealer, but there’s not much in it and that where I bought the 750.

It’s a shame the facelift has ruined what was a handsome looking car, but I bet the deals will be amazing.
Is it at all possible to refit the old bumper and grilles to the new one ? or have there been metal work changes on the bonnet and wings as well ?

The whole front end is affected, part of the problem with the grille is that it has spread up onto the bonnet. There are great deals to be had on the old model, plenty of low mileage 2019 730d M Sports available for £35-40k. Better spec than the LCI model and a lot of car for the money.

Presumably with the amount of kit embedded in the bumper of these things this is an absolute non-starter.

The new one in the background of Martin's photo looks utterly atrocious. BMW should simply refuse to offer an all black grille on a pale car.

New model not LCI, but a not worth a new thread and it makes the LCI look better…. I really hope this photoshop is some way off the mark, but looking at spy pics the lights are about right but not sure the grille will. W quite than deep / horrendous….. I’ve said this before, but I can’t see me buying another BMW any time soon.

I believe I can see a profit growth in the after market pats for these soon. Is there something we don't know about in their coffee?

I suppose it stops the confusion between the 5 & 7 series.

With the lights from a C3 Aircross.

I think the 7 series has always suffered from a lack of "presence" for such an expensive car and this does go some way to achieving that - it's just they've gone too far with the grille - scale it down by 20% or so and they could be on the right track.

It's awful but I'm not sure it's more awful than the current monstrosity!

Both of those renderings look terrible. If a Chinese company launched that, everyone would piss themselves laughing.

I remember when the E38 came out, probably the 7er Zenith now we have hindsight, when I rode past one for the first time and hung alongside giving it the full once over. I genuinely couldn’t tell if it was the new 5er or 7er

I remember when the E38 came out, probably the 7er Zenith now we have hindsight, when I rode past one for the first time and hung alongside giving it the full once over. I genuinely couldn’t tell if it was the new 5er or 7er I'm sure I can't be alone (in Europe at least) in that really appealing to me? A lot of colleagues/people I know had no idea my car wasn't a 5 series, even my boss who is supposed to be a 'car guy' got in it and said "this is really nice, never seen a 5 series like this inside". That was helped by me having the badges removed and I never had to think about when I was using it as I do with my current car, which I don't take to certain meetings / locations. I knew what I had, thought it was the best looking BMW in a long time and a very special thing to drive/own. So ruining the styling for more 'presence' so your neighbours/colleagues/strangers know how much you've spent or you're not a middle manager in a 5 series is a bad thing. IMHO of course!
