Should I start a new thread? Thought I'd give my Pixel phone's new-ish Night Sight feature a go and take a photo of the car outside work tonight. The darkness helps hide the filth it is currently covered in! God, look at the ride height of that RS3, it looks like a SUV! Ride height isn’t too bad, better than the std Q3 on small wheels, but there’s something stuck in the lower front bumper. Lovely colour.

Hmm, very nice, would love to see that some time! Mrs ALF's replacement has a Q3, and its a nice size - plenty of room without being massive like the Q5 and Q7. I, too, have always noted the very complimentary reviews of this car (the Q3 RS that is) and thought it might figure one day, as a "family" car...
The steering on the normal Q3 (It's a diesel S Line 14 plate) is ludicrously light. I always think mine has almost no resistance and less feel when I have the winter tyres on, but the Q3 -with fairly wide summer tyres - made me realise how lucky I am even in winter!!!

The Kuga with its deep sidewalled tyres and AWD blitzed the snow this morning, I'm one of the few people to make it into work so far......
The snow was very patchy around home though, our sideroad looks like it's had about 2 or 3 inches overnight (there was just a light covering at 10pm last night), main road was nearly all melted but some slush, and the worst bit was people driving at 15 to 20mph because they could see snow at the side of the road on the greens and pavements despite the road being clear. outside lane of the M3 was stil covered in snow with nobody venturing into it. Basingstoke has a lot more than at home but I've still negotiated the massive car park with ease. leaving the first trail of tyremarks amongst the whiteness. Since I arrived, it's started snowing again.

What's this snow you're all speaking of?
Haven't had that in the far north! It was -9 when I got in the car this morning though......

My TT was equally rubb8sh in snow with 19's and quattro . No problem starting off just couldn't stop or steer!! That's the problem I have. Car pulls away fine, won't go round corners! There's a 90 degree, uphill left at the top of my street and when its been snowy or icy I've found it fascinating to go round there - at 10mph or so - in the 320 and keep the accelerator on to feel the car shuffling power around. It will go from turn-in oversteer to power on understeer and then back to something neutralish within a couple of seconds. Apart from the one time it stuck with the turn-in oversteer and kept the quite extreme angle as I drove past a few kids and their parents waiting for the school bus!

I thought the TT was the most dangerous car I had in the snow - but in reality it was the 19" sport tyres with 3 grooves acting like 4 skis jut with quattro to get you going!
It was great on winters - maybe get yourself some cross climate for this time of year

Supposed to rain on Sunday so I think I will wait until next year. Are those your 2 garages in the background? Worth trying to clear at least one of them out to keep one car under cover?

I've just walked to the train station to find the trains are cancelled, then walked to the main road to find no bus and then got rang by my boss who said not to worry about going in, they were shutting down for the day. I left at half nine and got back about ten past eleven.

Neither of them fit through the stupidly tiny doors! Could only get the A3 in there by folding the mirrors in which made it interesting when exiting. I have to fold the mirrors of the Kuga to get it into my garage, same as I had to fold the mirrors of the Galaxy. The C-Max fitted, mirrors extended as normal, with a few mm to play with

Neither of them fit through the stupidly tiny doors! ... Like parking spaces, garage design is still locked in the 1950's. Builders aren't going to build garages that are useful. That would be more expensive and use more precious land. They are going to build garages that look like garages but are fuck all use to put a modern car in.

You can only just squeeze the Golf through the garage door without folding the mirrors, but at least being small it means there is plenty of space in front of it, enough for a freezer and space to walk between. The other side of the garage is my shed, it's got 4 x adult bikes on stands, 8 x wheels, pressure washer, workshop vac etc etc.

I think they probably are the show houses but why!! Dunno, but I've been around enough showhouses to know they like to landscape around them before returning them to normal when they are sold.

It is tricky to get a picture but there is no road to the front of the houses or garages - maybe they will create one after they have sold them all
