The Numan album is a bit too front loaded to my ears, ie you start off thinking it's really good because all the best songs are on 'side 1' , but end up thinking it was merely OK because it tails off too much. I also had trouble working out where he ended and Nine Inch Nails began for most of it. On the plus side, his syrups are looking more convincing these days. Nine Inch Nails? That fucker has made his career off Gary Numan for years.

Series 9 of Curb Your Enthusiasm. Larry's back!
Best comedy on TV at the moment.

I've started watching the US version of Dirk Gently on Netflix. It's reasonably funny but I assume it has a lot more violence than the UK version that was done a few years ago.

Series 9 of Curb Your Enthusiasm. Larry's back! Best comedy on TV at the moment. I've been binging on it on Now TV, proper cringeworthy but so well written. I'm not always a fan of comedy where the jokes can be seen coming a mile off but it just seems to work. Can't wait for the new series.

Anyone else watching Liar on a Monday night ?
It gets weirder and weirder each week . Seems a bit obvious if it is all the surgeon

Brian Johnson's A Life On The Road on Sky Arts is worth a watch. The ones with Roger Daltry & Lars Ulrich were really good, the one with Nick Mason less so (aside from the 250GTO).

Just watched the new Spider-Man movie. Marisa Tomei makes one seriously hot version of Aunt May!

Watched Alien Covenant last night. Not really sure its worthy of being a film in its own right, I understand it advances the story but I was left feeling underwhelmed. It's more like a couple of chapters in the first book of a trilogy (or more).

Seems a bit obvious if it is all the surgeon I liked it to start with, the whole thing around two different perspectives of the same evening and the ramifications that followed. But then it got weird and towards the end it was, frankly, ludicrous. And there is to be a second series. Based on what, I don't know, unless they dissect every case.

The second series will be about who has murdered him. Odds are on the ex-husband, son or lesbian wife. I enjoyed it.

Watched the George Michael docufilm last night (Mrs 12th was a big fan, and as I usually end up choosing what we watch I couldn't avoid it). Had hoped it would be interesting along the Senna/Amy lines, but it was rather more of an unfinished vanity project.
Looking forward to watching the Chris Packham documentary about his Asperger's, which we recorded yesterday.

I watched the Chris Pacham one and it is interesting, especially as a parent of a child with Aspergers. It affects boys differently to girls in some ways and we're fortunate our daughter doesn't have the level OCD that Chris has but she shares a lot of his social anxiety and easily forms obsessions like Chris does. And similarly to him she does have a tendency to suffer from verbal diarrhoea. But what was clear was that these nuances of his really make him who he is on TV and have given him the ability to be such an expert in his field, particularly due to the lengths of his obsessions with observing wildlife. I shared his concern when visiting scientists in the US who claim to be able to cure Aspergers. It's not a disease.

It was fascinating, wasn't it? Didn't seem to have done his sense of humour any harm, though!
I suspect that what he would really like is to keep his focus and insight, but not be so crippled by social situations and to over-grieve.
I always liked him, and being prepared to show this level of honesty only strengthens my view.

I always liked him, and being prepared to show this level of honesty only strengthens my view. It also goes a long way to understanding why he goes public with some opinions that land him in hot water (such as when he criticised the amount of money spent saving Pandas compared to other species that are less fussy eaters). It's a logical opinion and to a person with Aspergers it's difficult to understand the emotionally adverse reaction to it.

As a Duranie (still) I’d love to go back to 1984 / 85 in the lower 6th and tell all the Wham! loving girls that a fat homosexual George would be found dead from an overdose just around Christmas whilst Simon celebrates over 32 years of marriage to a supermodel.

I loved the George Michael documentary. I've always been a fan of his work (musically, not the cruising on Hampstead Heath or rearranging photography shops with his Range Rovers) and never realised he had so many demons. He made a very good point near the end that the music world will never see the likes of him, Madonna, Jackson or Prince again. Modern "talent" comes from jumped up karaoke TV shows, not from hard graft and genuine ability.
Honestly, who else could have sang Somebody To Love at the Freddie tribute gig? Or duetted with Aretha Franklin? He was a genuine one off and where he chose to put Little George (Or his Range Rover) was nobody else's business.

What channel was that on, I would quite like to see it?
It’s sad, but true in that so many talented people are leaving this world and there isn’t anyone filling the space they leave.

We went to see Blade Runner 2049. It has had fantastic reviews and is certainly an epic sci-fi extravaganza. And it is not a sequel to the original Blade Runner, but to the directors cut that had the different ending. And it is one of those sequels where you have to have seen (and understood) the directors cut prequel, or else you'll be lost. I am sure some people will sit there going "WTF is going on??". We really enjoyed it - need to see it a second time to feel like I've taken everything in, but it's true that you can't go into the film cold - you'd be rather lost.

Mrs Tim stumbled across a band called TrollfesT on YouTube and now I'm addicted.
Warning: This music might not be appropriate to any tastes on here (except perhaps Blarno) but if you're going to check them out search for the song called 'Steel Sarah'.

Despite my comment on Wham! earlier I also recognise that GM was a HUGE talent. Indeed I have both the Wham! albums from the UK and the US "music from the edge of heaven" with its "Hot Side" (coloured red) and "Cool Side" (it's blue - well duh!). I have various solo singles of his also, but Duran Duran remain far more talented and innovative as an ensemble. Probably than just about anyone from that era and after.

It was a good piece of television but it annoyed me he kept mispronouncing Aspergers, it's got a hard G. It affects different people in different way, as with anything else no two people are the same.

I was speaking to our receptionist yesterday and she told me she first saw Duran Duran 35 years ago, last saw them 2 years ago and was, inexplicably, suffering withdrawal symptoms!

A 7.5 hour flight to Bermuda for my last business trip means a "3-movie flight". One was Scarlett Johansson's Ghost in the Shell. It had some really good moments and of course they are the usual plot twists, but overall it did not grab me as i expected it to.
I also watched Baby Driver. A car heist and car action thriller. I enjoyed it as good harmless fun. It is worth watching for the soundtrack - all original songs, played loud.
The third film must have been good - I can't even remember what it was three days later!

2 years ago was the start of the Paper Gods tour, which has been simply brilliant / awesome / massive / just ended. As live bands go they're über-polished, always have been, and as audiences go no one knows the words like a Duranie! You don't have Nile Rogers say they're his "other band" without being really quite fantastic.
