Forum Jonathan Palmer day (if they still exist)? I was looking at these the other day actually. My brother did a half day for his 40th and had a fantastic time.

We went skiing in Italy over Christmas, first time since the pandemic for me. It flashed past - just as I felt like I was getting back into the swing of things, it was time to leave. So I'm looking at going again, either on my own or tagging along with some friends in February.
I have spousal permission since a) I turn 50 in February and b) my wife is on her way to Megève at the moment for a girls' long weekend.
We have nothing booked but are planning on returning to Gran Canaria at Easter.

Got the make, failed on the model. Not so much 'hit with the ugly stick', more 'felled by the whole tree'.

About 1999, I think. The guy had a thousand yard stare and was carrying a package wrapped in black plastic, about the size and shape of a rolled up carpet. Kept banging on about how he was going to make his fortune in fitness videos.
It didn't end well.

Great choice, you'll have a lot of fun in that.

I've watched him do some remarkable things in an F1 car over the years, but that has go down as one of his best drives. Breathtaking skill and adaptability under pressure, and such clever use of the tools at his disposal.

I used to lurk on a Porsche forum and remember one of the regulars sheepishly posting that they had spun their Boxster into a dual carriageway barrier on the way home from the dealer.

Brilliant choice, I look forward to seeing how you get on with it. Makes everything else in its class look frumpy and dull.
I love the wheels as well.

Brutal, entirely predictable, and he absolutely wasn't given enough time. Typical Red Bull. I knew he was doomed as soon as he turned down a firm offer from Williams to join AT. Impossible to know for sure of course but I think he would have done better in that environment, especially with an improved 2023 car under James Vowles.
De Vries is well shot of AT. He'll go back to sportscars or FE and have a lot more fun.
I'd like to see DR do well and he has apparently relearned how to drive properly after forcing himself into some bad habits at McLaren. But the 2023 Alphatauri is a complete shitbox. Steep learning curve ahead.

An early MK3 Fiesta, pre Ecoboom, would be a good bet. Easy and intuitive for a learner to drive, cheap to maintain, and the 1.25 and 1.4 Zetec engines are bulletproof.

Also in 2. Yes, a very rare sight now. I owned one for four years in the late 90s and early noughties. A lovely car, much more practical and reliable than its reputation suggests.

In one. Always had a soft spot for these, especially the much improved early 90s version.

In one, surely one of the most recognisable shapes on the road. I got yesterday's slightly less obvious example in one as well, unprecedented for me.

Lots to look forward to. I think it will be business as usual at the front - Ferrari a little adrift of Red Bull - but the real intrigue for me lies in where Merc, Aston and Alpine stack up. Merc had a confusing test, Aston have clearly made a big step, and while Alpine were nowhere in raw pace terms, most onlookers seem to agree that they were holding back more than any other team.
As to the rest, everyone looks to have made a decent step except McLaren. I predict that only a touch of Lando magic will prevent both cars going out in Q1.
It looks like there will be four rookies on the grid, with Drugovich standing in for Stroll. I'm looking forward to seeing how they all get on.
It's been a long and shitty winter, can't wait.

You must be reading my mind, I've just been looking at this car again. It's been there at least three months now. I've been dithering over whether a Type R (or indeed anything other than my current banger) would get enough use to justify the outlay, hence the lack of movement. It doesn't help that there are no in-budget Type Rs for sale within 100 miles - the car in Glasgow is 400 miles away from me.

Now that the photo uploading seems to be working again - hello from little mid-engined brother (freshly ceramic coated) in similar colour spec for bodywork, wheels and brake callipers: Your wheels are the same design as on the 718 Cayman GT4. I think they suit the Macan better than the Cayman - I prefer my wheel design on the Cayman to the GT4 offering. That's more like it, although I've always thought that 20's look too big on a Cayman.

Prices for all three are silly. The NSX is a wonderful thing, I was lucky enough to drive one back in 2000 when I was trying to get a job at Autocar. But assuming you intend to use it, there are too many options for £65k.
The yellow FK8 is one of only 21 UK cars, but against a list price of £42k ish, rarity only goes so far. Especially when there's another one with delivery mileage on Auto trader for £53k.
And the flipper selling the new black FL5 might find, as GR86 flippers have, that the demand just isn't there. The going rate for a GR86 is about £34k (list £31k). The first cars were initially advertised for £40k.

Have you tried an i30N yet? I was browsing through ‘the knowledge’ at the back of Evo the other day and they have it as their number 1 hot hatch. No. The dealer did get in touch offering a test drive but after testing the Type R I felt it would have been a waste of their time. I imagine that the i30N is top of Evo's hot hatch list because they will only list cars that are currently on sale.

Last thing I’d do is test drive something I know will be awesome if o don’t have the dosh lined up. Ditto, however the Bank of England have complicated matters in the last couple of weeks. This popped up today, will be interesting to see if it goes privately or ends up at a dealer: www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202212192628604?atmobcid=soc3
