One thing the Taycan certainly didn't need is extra warp factor. Quicker then a 918 hypercar while doing the commute.

Malaysia?
Nice colour, almost Mazda nice. I guess they don't do prestige motors in this country if the Honda is getting pole position at a fancy hotel.

So.... the previous Porsche SUV's were a sort jacked up 911, and now they are a jacked-up Taycan. Love it or loathe it, the 911 has the best heritage of any sports car ever. The Taycan is just a reasonably sleek BEV, a category of car most people don't aspire to own at all, and are just being forced to. Good luck with that. After the initial rush to be the first to be seen in a new Macan, very much like the Taycan, 18 months after production these will probably be a damn hard sell. Compared to the ICE Macan that was a cash cow all the way through its production span. Porsche like all the other German prestige brands must be worried. They might have to make the 911 electric just so the trickle down effect comes into play.

Make in 1, no chance on the model. Whats with the car anyways. You spend a fortune on a bespoke supercar and you choose beige?

Sort of surprised at the price. 55k is not cheap, but in relation to what other cars now cost, 55K for a 5.0 litre V8 looks like okay value. GPF though killing the power in this. The European Dark Horse has less power than the US-spec GT edition. We need the the full 500 bhp over here! Good point, I assuming the aftermarket boys will be busy bringing the power back to standard.

Great stuff, probably a straight swap for Sainz. Be interesting to see how the Tifosi welcome the news. Can Hamilton compete with an on form LeClerc in qualifying, probably not? Can LeClerc deal with Hamilton in the race, probably not. Could be electric.

www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=23&t=2063060For some reason I find this hugely appealing. It isn't cheap but actually I thought it would start at 70K when launched. If they are 40K in a couple of years i'll be in one. I can't think of much better to see me through to the ICE ban. I think it looks very similar to the 4 series/M4 without the hideous details.

Ffs you’re making me very nervous. It’s still my plan to be getting into one at some point this year but the bills might mean I have to go for an M3!!! Be nervous! It's a lot more than I expected tbh - but the money is all on the brakes, the other optional stuff I had done might have doubled the £565 service cost but its the brakes (parts especially) that are the big money. People on the forums can find them cheaper, people will fit them cheaper, there is plenty that can go wrong however and the cheap pads from Euro car parts etc don't have a good rep. To be fair, what I had done would have been at least £3300 on the Jag. At the garage up the road, not a specialist or dealer, using OEM parts and with them passing discounts on to me... Then again how much is an M3 or RS4 total brake change with OEM parts from a dealer or top specialist?? RS Audis often have those squared off, holed discs, they look highly "reassuringly expensive" to me. Its the reality of heavy cars now. I've never had problems with brakes in Porsche ownership but new pads and disks seems to be the norm at 30k miles with saloons. Its trying to work out if you spend 40k on a car and have to do the 4 year service, brakes etc which will be near 4k or spend nearer 50K and not have to do these jobs for a few years. You know what its like, with BMW, Audi you feel you have a support network and when they do lift you leg they do it with such polish it takes some of the pain away. You enter a world of plate glass showrooms, hot receptionists, warm beverages. What do they call it, reassuringly expensive.

That's OK, no one ever had to spend a penny maintaining an M3. Its part and parcel of owning a performance car. Now you know about these things from Alfs car you can always try to haggle on the price if they've not been done. Trust me, a G30 M3 is a hell of a lot easier and kinder to the wallet to own then a Quad. Alfa are shite from the manufacturer to the dealer and every layer inbetween. I was expecting Stellantis to have improved the Alfa offering but then I guess if you look at all their other offerings they aren't exactly number 1 for customer satisfaction.

Quite, seeing as they have Oxford Green within their colour palette it does seem a shame its a frozen paint. Not that I dislike the colour so much as apparently its a complete pain in the bum to keep clean.
I can't really see the appeal of a manual in the Z4, I see it as more of a cruiser then Boxster rival and probably suits the Auto better. From experience I tend to struggle with a BMW manual.

Fingers crossed for a reasonable bill on the Alfa. Thanks. I mean the brakes and batteries on the Jag were £2500 and that was from a small local garage, AHM have higher sights than that, and Alfa parts prices are a lot higher............... So "reasonable" will be a relative thing, I think! Assuming its at least £3k odd, I just hope they find nothing else majorly wrong with it... Whats the mileage on the Alfa? Is it normal for pads and disks at this stage or was there other issues with the disks?

Looks like a Chinese copy of the real thing. The product of a drunken night fumble between a Macan and a Ora Funky Cat.
Not sure who’s the market for these when they price them higher than a Cayenne.

There are already sub 3 year old M4's with less then 10,000miles on for under 50K.
I know they are hideous but when a 3 year old M3 touring hits 50K they will be hard to ignore. I'd rather an Alpina B3 but the monstrous depreciation of the M3/4 doesn't seem to have much of an impact on Alpina depreciation.

I went into the local BMW dealer to have a look around yesterday. Showrooms certainly help make ugly cars quite desirable.
Looking at the 5 series, they had a 550e in the showroom for 95K and a 520i, which I thought might be around late 40K early 50 with options was £69,950. I'm well out of touch. No suprise you don't see these on the road anymore.
