DRL dafties this morning. I saw two of them in the space of a mile: a Fiat 500C and a Hyundai i10. I came up alongside the Fiat at the traffic lights to try to tell her that she had no lights at the rear but despite putting my passenger window down and waving at her she remained transfixed on the horizon.

A hero in a Mk4 Golf GTI on the way home last night who had been sat behind me before overtaking part of a line of cars while getting ever closer to a blind brow on a stretch of road well known for fatal crashes due to its undulating nature (the A92 near Kilmany in Fife). I hope he wasn't doing it for my benefit - I was cruising in the Nissan as I was turning off shortly and there was no point in overtaking.

I've come to the conclusion that, for my own relative sanity, I'm not going to bother with such people any more; most either ignore you as in your situation, or give you the finger - either way, lights remain resolutely switched off. I'm now quite happy being able to see them myself; if anyone else can't well, sorry, but that's just tough.

Just what the fuck is it with people joining motorways at 50mph and, instead of using the full length of the sliproad, they join at the very point the solid hatched markings end?

Or, conversely, the ones who DO use the full length of the sliproad but still only struggle up to 50, join the motorway then put their foot down!

Had something like that yesterday. I was on the slip road behind a Nissan doing about 50 which was in the right lane and I stayed in the left. It pulled onto the A1m and went straight into the outside lane (there was nothing on the inside lane) causing the 4 series coming up behind it to slam on the anchors. I used the full length of the slip road and found myself well in front of both of them - probably a bit of a grey area on my part.

I was travelling down the M4 the other night in the left lane and a white Insignia went past in the middle lane. It then stayed in the middle lane, but started slowing down so that I started to catch up again. I did the correct thing by sweeping over to the outside, went past and then made a very obvious manoeuvre back to the inside. To my amazement the Insignia driver took the hint and pulled over to stop this reoccurring. Into the outside lane!

Nob in a chavved Mk1 Focus who shot up the inside lane of two, coming off the roundabout, just as the lanes merge. I had to brake and sit behind him as he latched himself onto the bumper of the car that was in front of me. This was, presumably, because I overtook him on a short bit of DC between some previous roundabouts. By good fortune he went the way I was going along the A5 so I had another opportunity to humiliate him. And his window was down as I passed. With windscreen and headlight washers going.

Was subjected to the most startling display of aggression I can recall in years today. Took 13th to see Blade Runner 2049 and there was a small woman in a crappy white Corsa, with some sort of horrible aggressive soundtrack coming from it. She ended up in the lane to the side of me, and barged in at a corner without indication or even looking. Didn't phase me - we were talking about the film, so there you go.
I was then being followed by a tradesman's vehicle, can't have been more than 2-3 feet from my bumper, so when the lights were red and I ended up behind the Corsa, I thought I'd put a gap between me and the van when the lights changed. This involved overtaking the Corsa when she left the lights.
Cue the most startling display of light-flashing, gobbing-off and at least thirty seconds of V signs, middle fingers and other gestures that were rather off my radar as a member of the normal human race. And a couple of hundred yards of worse tailgating than I'd had from the van.
Ignored her, left plenty of space between me and the vehicles in front and even let a couple of people out at junctions - I hope that pissed her off. Gratifyingly, she turned off into a part of the world best described as 'shit'. And one day, she'll do that to someone who will not accept it. On your own head be it...

I have a good idea of just where she probably resides. And "shit" is being generous.

This morning, on the way to work northbound on the A3, I go over the M25, the A3 is 2 lanes at this point.
There is the M25 to A3 sliproad and this sliproad ends up being L1 of the A3, I need this lane as I am coming off at the next junction, there is an Evoque on the sliproad/A3 L1 to my left she is ahead of me, indicates to go into L2 with a completely clear L1 ahead, I pull into L1, as I am coming off at the next junction, she sits at approx 60 in L2.
I steadily cruise by to her left doing approx 65, she starts veering, I sound the horn, she veers back and I carry on and look in my mirror, she then starts veering into L3 and veering back to L2 then to L1, her speed looks all over the show and she is all over the place.
Most likely either pissed or on her phone, good job that there was the mobile speed camera 2 miles back, hidden in a dip, nabbing people on an free flowing, relatively empty A3, on a lovely clear day, in an area where there are never accidents!!

Not quite a villain, really, but very poor driving IMO.
Coming back just now from walking the dogs and travelling along a narrowish lane when I note two cars coming towards me. Now this road is wide enough to let two Discovery-sized vehicles pass each other IF both keep in the sides pretty closely. So, first car is a Discovery (4, not that it matters) driven by a person of the female persuasion; generally, not a good omen. However she duly moved over to her side of the road, allowing our respective vehicles to pass quite happily.
Second car was a Kia Picanto, also driven by a woman; this one however obviously believed her car to be even wider than a Discovery, judging by the amount of space she was giving her nearside from the edge of the road - at least 2 feet, perhaps more! When she noted I wasn't going to move over any further (difficult to do when there really is nowhere to go!) it was full-on emergency stop mode, resulting in her nearly collecting the Clio behind her!!
Honestly, some people really shouldn't be allowed out without a carer .. .. ..

A couple in a short distance last night:- 1. Somebody driving on their DRLs on the dual carriageway after the Tay Bridge - the bridge is fully lit but it took them halfway along the unlit dc to put the lights on 2. Possibly the worst thing I have ever seen. On the A92 a couple of miles south of the above there were 2 cars behind me and 3 in front, all leaving sensible gaps. There were also a few cars a few hunder yards further up the road. After a roundabout you go round a gentle right hander onto a short straight where the 2nd car in the queue ahead, a Fiat 500, overtook the lead car. At this point the car 2 behind me went for an overtake. It was a Merc A45 AMG thing and they're clearly fast. He passed me and I assumed he'd pull into the gap I was leaving as the road climbs quite significantly round a gentle curve and you just wouldn't be able to see anything. Sadly not, he continued his manoeuvre until he'd passed all the cars. If anything had come the other way he wouldnt've stood a chance as he was moving VERY fast so would've had a tiny warning. I've got to be honest, I thought it was suicidal and fully expected to come across a big accident further down the road as it was busy and this plonker clearly wasn't going to wait for anything. I think it's a clear sign that very fast cars are probably now too accessible as I assume the driver was pretty inexperienced to consider such a move.

Why is joining a motorway becoming ever more frustrating? Why is the speed we join at getting ever slower? Just why?! Every day this week has seen a speed of 45 to 50 as we join the motorway. For no good reason whatsoever.

I'm not entirely sure who the villain is on this one. I was sat in my car waiting whilst the contents of our joint account was spent in Pets at Home. I had my window down (the dogs stink) and watched a Skoda Citygo (the VW up version) backed out of a space. As it did the driver of the car next to it got out, marched in front of it holding his palm to the driver whilst he inspected the side of his car. He then announced that the Skoda had hit his wheel, the driver of which seemed apologetic. He then added, "you have to be very careful even in tiny little cars like that". In case you're wondering what Nimitz class land yacht he was driving, it was a Freelander.

Fiesta driving baboon who decided that rather than wait for the roundabout entry to open into two lanes would blindly use the other side of the road.

Muppet in an Audi Allroad on a narrow country road yesterday who didn't want to go within 2 feet of the side of the road in case their precious mock 4x4 got slightly dirty! I made them use the whole road.

The usual dolts out tonight driving with their front fogs on, half of them because they had a headlight out, but one Polo driver was taking the piss. They had put red LEDs in them so they had both red and white lights at the front of the car.

I find it a shame that our police aren't armed. If they were they could shoot them in the face for me.

A woman in a Picasso who pulled out of a side road on to a local 40mph dual carriageway, right in front of two cars which were in front of me. The first car hit his brakes and the Focus behind him swerved to the outside lane just as Picasso lady did the same. She then hit the brakes to go through a central reservation gap on to the other carriageway - cue an emergency stop, full headlights and horn by the Focus, who just missed her.
As I passed I looked across at her as she turned on to the other carriageway and she looked totally terrified. I hope she appreciated that it was completely self inflicted!

We have a client with a GT4 who lives where a lot of cyclists go out in packs. He takes great pleasure in telling us that he sometimes has to split the groups to be able to get past them but he always puts the car in maximum sports mode and keeps it in a low gear for full impact with max revs, exhaust flame and noise. He says he can't believe the number of times the cyclists tell him with their fingers that he is mister No 1

Old duck in the Asda car park, old silver Corsa 5 door. No undinged panel on it and she hit four cars trying to get round the bend towards the disabled parking. She needed a radar rather than a disabled space but what would the alternative be I wonder?

My preferred would be better access to communal housing on the affordable end. No need for that kind of task and fewer knocks on everyone's car. I am talking about being affordable to those who live on the state pension rather than those with a decent personal pension.
