Will you be affected? As with all weather, as it doesn't look like it will have much effect on the South East, it will be relegated from headline news to the 'dead donkey' story.
Expecting 70mph winds and a storm surge with the sea here which meant yesterday was spent with quite a community effort removing boats from our harbour.

Absolutely still here, but with the deep cloud cover there is a strange half-light all the time.

Absolutely still here, but with the deep cloud cover there is a strange half-light all the time. Same here, low cloud with a weird glow to it that looks a bit odd. We're only expecting winds of 40 which is bad enough but nothing like what others are facing. I think we'll be fine although times like this I do worry about my pergola construction skills.

Similar here, but with a small, orange sun

Not expecting to be personally effected and it’s pretty still here, but I’m responsible for warehouse and transport operations in Dublin and Belfast. Ferries have been cancelled so we’re short of stock which helps, but they’re finishing off in Dublin warehouse now and all our vehicles are back in the yard. I’m told the wind is really picking up now.

Lovely sky and sun colour combo here - slightly reminiscent of an approaching eclipse.

Lovely sky and sun colour combo here - slightly reminiscent of an approaching eclipse. My father in-law suggested ours looks more like an approaching apocalypse. It has been properly wierd here all morning, with an orange glow in the sky. Ap-arently caused by Saharan dust and ash from forest fires in Spain and Portugal.
I expect then car will be covered in dust later...

It was raining when I left home this morning, but it stopped shortly after leaving and the car had dried off by the time I got to work. It’s covered in dust.....I only washed it on Saturday.

I heard that too since I made my earlier comment. We had an amazing red sun about 11am.

Wind is just starting to pick up here in the North Pennines. Hatches are battened, however I expect us to miss the worst of it.
The Saharan dust light is very eerie to say the least. Incredibly dark for the daytime.

It's very dull but with a weird yellowish light up here in Dundee. It sounds like the wind is picking up a bit, hopefully not too much as the Tay Bridge might close and we'll be faced with an extra 45 miles to get home via Perth

just got home but have noticed an eerie yellowish glow tint all day in the sky and to all the buildings. It's weird but strangely beautiful. Sunset should be glorious. Bit breezy here but nothing more.

The cloud has pretty much completely cleared now. Just spoken to one of my team who’s in Liverpool airport and not looking forward to his flight to Dublin. I told him he was lucky it hadn't been cancelled!

The wind has now picked up and is getting worse. We usually have a powercut when the wind gets bad - here's hoping today is a exception to the rule.

The winds peaked about 3am this morning. No real damage other than a few cracks in the conservatory. It's upstairs and the large windows flexing in the wind means I am going to have to pull out all the old frame sealant and re-fill the gaps ASAP.
