Looks ok - certainly better than the Pious or the Hyundai thing - but why the hell does it have a diffuser?
I saw a report that they're offering a longer range one as well.

but why the hell does it have a diffuser? Seems it's at least doing something:

Hmm, ok then. I'm sure it'll make a noticeable difference at 43mph on an A road.

Every little helps. It's the 1% gains that add up.

I think that looks better than the current one.

Wouldn't be too hard to achieve that, but I agree.

That looks not too bad actually. I can even imagine a Renault-badged version passing off as an electric Megane.

Is there a reason the Leaf exists?
Nissan pretty much gave up on the standard hatchback a few years ago so why not put all the electric hardware into a Qashqai which would guarantee sales and save all the costs of retooling for a new model?

I read somewhere they're planning on doing an SUV version so they're clearly branching out.

I haven't seen a lot of electric/hybrid crossovers. I wonder why that is.

I've seen loads. Mitsubishi Outlanders, Volvo XC90 T8s, Lexus RXs... Yep, I see loads too and the BMW's X series cars and saloons. That Leaf looks promising, however I think it will be expensive to lease or PCP until electric cars become more mainstream, Nissan cannot afford to continue offering ridiculously good PCP deals with a completely unobtainable residual value, as they do currently on the existing Leaf.

A friend in the village has a Leaf. It ran out of electricity 200 yards from his house and he had to push it past the Baa onto his driveway. I have never heard so many people laughing so loudly at once!

I wondered why Leaf lease deals seemed cheap compared to the awful residual values. So, a loss leader then?

I have never heard so many people laughing so loudly at once! A work colleague has one, as does his wife. He sold his ageing X5 and they flogged her Alpina D3 Touring. She gets free electricity at work to recharge. He says that if they nedd a car for, say, a holiday in this country, they will just hire one, as they would if going abroad. It kind of makes sense. I can't quite bring myself to go electric or even hybrid just yet.

I don't know what Nissan are playing at when they are giving residuals of £11k for a three year old Leaf, 3 year old Leafs are retailing around £7k, which would mean the dealer would have paid £5000-£5500 for it.

They might export them to another right hand drive country and take advantage of the weak pound! Or maybe they aren't daft and the residuals are going to firm up significantly when electric cars start to get a real foothold.

Or maybe they aren't daft and the residuals are going to firm up significantly when electric cars start to get a real foothold. With the new one announced, residuals will likely go down. I spoke to our area RCi guy and he couldn't understand the thinking with the residuals, ZOE has realistic residuals, unfortunately it means the monthlies are very high when compared to the Leaf.
