Say it isn't so? One of my favourite forum cars, and after all your heartache getting it running right, any replacement plans in the pipeline?

Wow, wasn't expecting that. I thought you were using it a reasonable amount and enjoying it now?

Say it isn't so? One of my favourite forum cars, and after all your heartache getting it running right, any replacement plans in the pipeline? I'm testing the water and the money would be useful. They are hard to sell and I'm not budging on price by a penny so there is no guarantee it's going anywhere. Wow, wasn't expecting that. I thought you were using it a reasonable amount and enjoying it now? It's done 2500 miles this year and half of those were going to Le Mans and back. I've hardly used it this year and I'm busy doing other things in my free time. The only thing putting me off selling it is that I know I'll never get another, but I'm at a stage of "been there done that" with it at the moment. It's a little sad really. It doesn't help that the car club have done fuck all other than shows (I don't mind doing the odd one, but being asked every week gets a little boring) and the drives out have turned into 40mph convoys, pulling over every five minutes for stragglers to catch up. The fun members don't seem to be interested any more. I usually end up picking up the Land Rover keys more often than not these days. I think I need to book a track day.

A track day sounds like a fine way to either say goodbye or reinvent the spark. All the best either way it goes.

I'm tempted to make you an offer for the registration plate (see "Rants" thread) - based on my current experience with the Fiesta.... don't sell it ! What's it costing you to own it? Surely the fun factor is worth it, even if you give up owners' club meetings etc, the sheer joy it must put on your face when you use it has got to be worth it ??

If it doesn't sell, I won't be disappointed.

The new TVR reveal is only a month or so away - that should spark a ton of new press coverage and probably an upsurge of interest in the second hand market by way of association. Looks lovely BTW

Like others, I didn't see that coming. Basically you've done all the hard graft and suffered the heartache of getting it just right, for somebody else to enjoy!

Sad, but by the sounds of it probably the right time. TVRs are always a ticking timebomb so getting out while the going's good is for the best. You'll be left with happy memories as opposed to the months of frustration you had.

I think I need to book a track day. PalmerSport a week on Friday?
Sorry to see the TVR go after all the time and effort you have put in to it but if you feel you have been there and done it, you can do it with few regrets. You could get one of those Arial buggies for your off-roading!

Thanks for the offer but things are a touch hectic at the moment.
I am going to try and use it more before doing anything drastic - I used to love going places in it but just don't feel the urge at the moment. It will be interesting to see if I get any calls about it. There are 94 Chimaeras on PH so I suspect I will still have it in a month's time.

I was sad when I got divorced but life has improved since then Look at it like this: you had it, made it into your car by undertaking a comprehensive rebuild and no doubt have pictures, video and memories in abundance. Looking forward to the next jet-powered lawnmower or whatever you'll spend the money on

I vaguely remember the Palmersport day being mentioned many months ago and It's my birthday on the 26th. I'm shit at knowing what I want as I genuinely feel uncomfortable with people buying me things but this has given me some ideas for the future.

I was told about that myself but it is difficult, I go by what I need instead of what I want and catch hell for not helping.

I'm shit at knowing what I want as I genuinely feel uncomfortable with people buying me things but this has given me some ideas for the future. PalmerSport is undeniably the best track day in the UK although expensive (c£850). The Mercedes World half day experience is also worth doing even if it is just for the fun of seeing if you can do the whole circle on the skid pan. The speed track is a bit on the small and narrow side but you can get some good speed up (c100mph) and a Merc 8 cylinder is always going to entertain. The half day is about £425/£475 depending on when you do it and the rest of Mercedes World is worth a visit.
I have been on Caterham track days but the instruction doesn't come near PalmerSport with some of their instructors and I have been left feeling I didn't really get a proper go at it - they use open track days so if there are too many numpties it's 2 laps then red flag and so on, so you get no rhythm going.
A tip for PalmerSport is that if you can go in the next 2 weeks, you will get a discount because you are filling in a space that would otherwise have been wasted.

Well,
It's my 40th so the cost aspect could be excused/justified.
I missed out on at least 2 Palmersport days over the years with work as I was out the country (one of the vendors used to take some of the team) and it's always been something top of my list.
I could probably swing next Friday (or any short notice to be fair) - missing work is a non-issue as I can get leave easily at / near last minute.
I'm not that far from MB world either and keep meaning to visit - I need to pull my finger out.
