Mate, good purchase. I really like the Monaco. Always wanted a blue face dial. I’m currently without watch as they’re all bashed up so trying to justify a purchase. What’s happened to them ? Plenty of blue faced Monaco’s out there . Go on my son Well I’ve got a quartz Tag that can only be worth a few hundred quid and the Chrono buttons fallen off so uneconomical repair and the Chris Ward also needs the a good fix but again probably an uneconomical fix so might as well buy a new watch. I’d like a decent watch and always wanted a Panerai, a chopard Mille miglia or blue faced Monaco. It’s just I’ve got plenty to spend money on currently that sits above watches unfortunately.

My Christopher Ward service cost 150 last year. It was away for 8 weeks!

I think Ed could rock my Welder Moody Watch or the Liv (see further up the thread for pictures of them) - both available to a good home for a very reasonable price... (new Porsche purchase to fund, and all that!)

Any southwesterners know a respectable watch buyer around here ? I have a rather nice watch that I have worn once in 14 years and get no use of to sell.

What is it? Would any of us on the Forum be interested? (in answer to the question though - I don't have any good suggestions to offer)

There are a couple of smaller jewellers in Cheltenham on or near The Promenade who offer used Rolexes, Omegas, Breitlings and similar in their shop window for fairly hefty prices who might be interested in buying at a fair price if the watch brand is one that the general public would recognise.

That's what I was going to suggest. My dad always used a small quality independent when offloading stuff like that.

The black dial version looks fabulous. If I had one of those, I would be keeping it and wearing it more! Drop Jeff (Big Blue) a PM perhaps...

They would probably say the same about us over here, banging on about the relative merits of a bunch of cars

Watch is stunning ,but I bought it as a dress watch and rarely go to dressy events ,I also can be a bit clumsy so tend to prefer watches that are close to indestructible .

...or any terms such as 'daily beater', 'worn in rotation with my other timepieces', 'wrist time'...

Didn't Breitling refer to their products as 'wrist instruments' for a while?
It might've been in that ad with John Travolta where he had very odd looking hair......

I'm a big fan of the Reverso but even if I could afford one it would get limited wrist time given my daily beater despite it's wrist presence (Childish post aside - I really am a fan of the watch but totally understand you moving it on if it isn't going to be used)

Thank f**k for decent home and contents insurance.
My wife managed to drop my Rolex onto a tiled floor in Italy in August, which cracked the sapphire face. Mercifully this was covered by our insurance, which includes accidental damage outside the home and abroad.
Finally got the quote through for the repair through from Rolex via my insurance company’s claims handler....
A little north of £1,000 and that’s assuming the face hasn’t been damaged by fragments of the sapphire, in which case it will cost even more...
My wife is most relieved that she only has to pay the £200 excess and I am most relieved that I had the foresight to pay a bit extra to protect our no-claims discount...

In the meantime, to make up for it and as an anniversary present she gave me this Submariner-style watch from a jeweller in her home town who does his own label line of watches which I’m quite fond of (I also have another one, quite different - an automatic dress watch, which I’ve posted in this thread before). It wasn’t pricey (€190) but is rather smart. I like the blued steel - it’s different.

I like that a lot. Reminds me of the Tudor black bay bronze.
