For that very reason I don't think these will easily find a new home. Overpriced in the first place and with a pretty small range has to mean that prices will continue to plummet.

That's back to the pre-Covid financial performance of big German saloons isn't it. If anything its still overpriced actually.

So this thread has had me looking at Cayman GTS. Whats with all the black wheels, do 90% of car buyers have no taste?

It’s got the basic Xenon’s as well, which are the low power 25w (which is why headlight washers aren’t required) and have a really poor reputation. Not an issue if he only drives it in the daylight! Does look nice though, even with black wheels and it’s a good price for a brand new car.

We discussed the headlights and he is aware of their feeble candle power but doesn't think he will be using it at night. He's happy!

Black wheels are the default colour in the configurator but you can get silver ones in the "painted" option for no extra cost. Why you wouldn't spec silver is beyond me.

You can or Satin Platinum for an extra cost, which is the forum favourite for Gentian Blue.

It was a good joke at the beginning, but it has gone on way, way too long.

It was a good joke at the beginning, but it has gone on way, way too long. Although I've got used to the cement grey paintwork on our Mini. I'd never actively choose it though. It's actually a metallic shade, but you'd be hard pressed to notice most of the time.

The finance rates simply don't work. I cannot fathom who agrees to pay 11%+ on finance, let alone on borrowings approaching the size of the average mortgage. I was "lucky" to get one of the last 6.4% deals and still wasn't particularly pleased with it.

Not everyone uses finance and at those rates, there will be a lot less doing so as it’s very hard to make your cash work that well for you. If someone knows a way, please let me know! I wouldn’t have been pleased at anything getting up towards 5%, let alone over that and had to try really hard to be polite when the business manager told me their move to 10.9% was in line with the base rate increasing and I should consider it as they could give be £1,000 finance contribution. The monthly interest was ridiculous. I guess with the car finance no matter what the rate, you just have to look at the monthly and total cost and decide whether or not that’s acceptable value for you.

Why are they all left hand drive, or is that just a set of stock images?

Why are they all left hand drive, or is that just a set of stock images? Just images from the configurator, so the right spec apart from them being LHD

I like that A LOT. Relatively speaking its not a lot of extra cash to pay over a similar age/mileage 370Z Nismo to get another 100BHP, a V8 and nicer surroundings. One of these might come under the 'ask for forgiveness, not permission' manmaths rules

I love the F-Type and that fact that Jag have killed it off just adds to my sense of utter anger at what JLR seem to be doing to Jaguar.
The blue on that P450 is a lovely colour. I think P450 AWD is probably the sweet spot of the range - price v performance v running costs wise.

I do regret not ordering my 2nd car in Bluefire - great colour. The one for sale appears to have a few toys (pano roof, 12 way elec memory seats, climate pack, exterior black pack), but I would be keen to find one with the extended leather and ideally the performance seats. It looked like the market for F-types was really sticky in the 2nd half of last year - lots of forecourt ornaments which I presume the dealers had paid through the nose for. However, now that prices have settled down, if you have a nice one and it's priced correctly - it will shift. Exhibit A - my old car popped up for sale on 24th Jan and now it's sold. Clearly well priced and in a rare colour with a shit load of options.

Just a pity you can't make these available to forum members when you are finished with them!

Wow, so this is what Porsche dealers want for an early 987S then: www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202403227864612This particular example suffers from being in that first year of 987S production with the absolute worst case IMS bearing (a wek single-row one outside the engine). By my (also 3.2) 06 model, they had gone to the double row bearing inside the engine casing, which remained the case through the first gen 3.4 engines, until the facelift 987's got rid of it altogether. It's £10k more than the same car (indeed a later one) from a specialist.... I keep an eye on early 987 values for obvious reasons - they seem quite firm - I still think its one of the best drivers car bargains out there currently, in Cayman or Boxster form, especially for the manual S's....

The link didn’t work, but I assume it’s the 30k mile one in Bournemouth for £24k. Nice condition and low mileage, but a fairly poor spec and as you say, about double what you’d expect. I’m not surprised prices are holding firm, once you get down to the price level of a 987 it’s all about condition. I’d expect prices to increase over time for well looked after examples.
Really good cars, we still miss ours.

Some of the 2020/21 4.0 Boxster GTSs look like a bargain compared to a 20 year old 987. All my spare cash is going to pension at the moment, otherwise I could easily be tempted.
