Or maybe you have had it and just didn't know! I know a few Doctors who have tested positive and they had absolutely no symptoms. No, I know I haven’t had it as I had a home blood test for antibodies as part of a medical surveillance programme I’m part of. As long as it more accurate than other home covid tests! Aren’t antibodies supposed to remain in your system for 9-10 months? If so, you’d have needed two tests, with the most recent one today to be 100% sure, but agree it’s unlikely.

So Bob, are you braced for the influx of thousands of Scots-people coming to use Sassenach hospitality for NYE? In Llanymynech near me, they'll be crossing the High Street from Wales to England in droves I expect. Can't help but smile at Drakeford and the fish-woman making themselves look utterly stupid.

We had an invitation to a party in Berwick upon Tweed from someone who moved South last year (saving £5K in tax). He still works up here but only 2 days a week now and his very large tax bill now goes to Westminster and not Edinburgh! We did think about it but reckoned it wasn't the most sensible thing to do given that we are then going to be in St Andrews for 2 days after that. I think it will be a relatively quiet night although the neighbours are talking about having a socially distanced street party again.

Just heard some silly pub owner telling Jeremy Vine that the Welsh crossing over should stay at home as they weren't welcome.

I was at Newcastle Central Station when the Glasgow train came in. For many years in Newcastle we’ve been running a resettlement programme for motivated Scots looking to escape the tyranny of The Peoples Republic of Jockistan. They integrate well, get their round in, even become Captains of the golf club. It’s a marvellous success story of multicultural Britain.

Does this article not show that resistance against Omicron is pretty futile. We have had different and more stringent rules in Scotland but overall it appears to make no difference at all. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-59893246

Considering the political scene over the channel from us, I suppose the bleeder is lucky they don't nickname this thing O'macron.

Well on Friday I felt like I was getting the flu so got a test and it was negative. Same symptoms on Saturday but didn’t take a test. Feeling a bit better today with mainly a sore throat, and some muscular pain, took an antigen test and it’s positive. Going for a PCR test tomorrow and will see what happens. I spent the entirety of Covid around people, traveling with my job and going in and out of businesses, am vaxed but not boosted yet and I get it when I’m pretty much staying away from people. Currently isolating in the house and getting tired of Netflix.

I was sure I had it yesterday. Woke up feeling tired and shivery but put it down to an excess of wine, and went running. By the time I'd got back and showered, I was dead on my feet and unable to get warm.
My LFT initially appeared negative but on closer inspection I could see the faintest of lines beside the T (didn't that happen to someone else on here?). I locked myself away, slept for 3 hours and did a second test. Clearly negative this time.
On reflection I think I left the first test for too long - I dozed off after taking it. So God knows what it is, if anything. No fever, yet constantly cold and exhausted enough that walking upstairs hurts.

T4 tested positive. T5, W2.1 and myself all negatived a PCR so T4 is banished to her room. She looked puzzled when I handed her a zinc coated pail and said slopping out was 8am and 8pm.

There is a rotten cold and chest infection doing the rounds here.
I've had it for a week or so. I've been to work as I've been better in fresh air, but refrained from socialising.
Most of the Baa staff have had it and went to be tested - all negative. It's just a nasty cold - we were warned colds would be harder hitting due to lack of social mixing and it seems so.
I feel like I've had my ribs kicked in - coughing or sneezing hurts like a bastard and the wheezing/rattling noise from my chest is keeping me awake.

The cacophony of coughing and spluttering in our office is frankly ridiculous at times.

I'd never thought of you as someone who'd listen to classical music and The Archers........ I listened to the Archers from birth until my mid 40s and have inherited access to an enormous classical music vinyl library. That said my only interface with prison has been a communication project a few years back.

Trouble is there are various types of flu virus and omicron will ultimately become one of them (if it cannot already be considered to be one). All affect different people in different ways. The annual flu jab is devised each season to deal with the most prevalent version noted by the health authorities.

The annual flu jab is devised each season to deal with the most prevalent version noted by the health authorities. Omicron is a coronavirus so will be more of a bad cold (most of which are also caused by various forms of coronavirus). That's why we will hopefully be able to live with it as an endemic virus in time that passes through the population without causing too much grief to most people. That might not be this year or even the next but in time we will just live with it and not have governments across the globe shitting the bed over it.

W2.1 has a positive test and either has some symptoms or just a bit of a cold. Myself and T5: nothing. We live in the same house. It’s now just a bit of an illness.

Covid is now just another Winter cold / man flu and really need to get on with our lives. In a 'normal' year around 200 to 300 people die each day from the flu. I have read that conventional flu is almost non-existent this year.

In a 'normal' year around 200 to 300 people die each day from the flu. I have read that conventional flu is almost non-existent this year. It is, but only for the vaccinated. For those that still do not choose to take up the free vaccine that their taxes are paying for, there is a lot more risk of them getting severe disease and not just having a bout of man flu. That's why I understand the stance Australia have taken against Novak Djokavic. He was starting to become a poster boy for the anti vax movement down under who were holding him up as an example of how an unvaccinated super fit international athlete in his early 30s can survive covid. Not all are lucky enough to enjoy such high fitness levels.
